Sometimes our lives have to be completely shaken up, changed, and rearranged to relocate us where we're really meant to be. Sometimes change feels like loss. Transformation is scary. And sometimes to discover the best versions of ourselves, we must let go of absolutely everything that's holding us down. Welcome to I Missed Me, your new safe space. I'm excited to form a part of your healing journey. Hey besties, welcome back to another episode of I Missed Me. If you're new here, welcome. We are a healing self-growth community, all looking to become the best versions of ourselves. And if you're not new here, bestie, welcome back to another episode. Happy Monday if you're listening to this on a Monday. And if you're not, I hope that you're having the most amazing week. Bestie, today we have an exciting episode because I told you guys on the intro episode that this season specifically, we're going to talk a lot about friendships. I feel like all throughout the podcast and the four years that I've been podcasting and having I Miss Me, I've talked about heartbreak a lot. I've talked about relationships a lot, talked about breakups and how to move on from men, how to get over breakups, which is something that I connected a lot and still connect to a lot. But lately, and mainly because I've been in a relationship for the past 2 years, I've learned a lot about relationships on the friendship side, more than I've ever in my whole entire life. To give you guys a little background of me and friendships, I've been a really good friend. I've been a really bad friend. I have had really good friend groups and I've had really terrible friend groups. I've had amazing friends and I've had really bad friends. So, I think I do have a lot of experience when it comes to friendships. I've had all types of friends, all types of friend groups. And I've also learned and have grown a lot as a friend myself. I now today consider myself an amazing friend. I'm the type of friend that will be there for you no matter what. If you literally call me at 1:00 a.m. and need me to pick you up, I will be there wherever you are. Like, I'll literally drive two hours for my best friend if she needs me there. I'm the type of friend that does favors for you. I'm the type of friend that picks you up, drops you off, and I never expect anything back because I genuinely, if I consider you my friend, I genuinely feel love for you and I genuinely care for you and I genuinely want you to do good and I genuinely want what's best for you. I haven't always been like that. I've been the jealous friend. I've been the possessive friend. I've been the friend that only wants you for myself. And I've been the friend that's been scared of losing my friends. And so I, you know, try to accommodate myself and be the type of person that everyone likes and everyone enjoys being around. So I don't think anyone is for everyone. And I think that the more, and I said this on episode number one, but I think that the more that you try to be for everyone, the less that you are for anyone. Someone that tries to be liked by everyone ends up not being liked by anyone because they can never be fully themselves and they can never show their personality 100% accommodating themselves and their personality depending on who they are with which ultimately has to do a lot with like insecurity and I don't even think that those type of people know who they are but that's literally besides the point of the episode. I'm like drifting away. But I feel that introduction was kind of like a little background as to how much I've learned about friendships especially these past two years where you know I've left college so I didn't really have a regular college experience where you know college is normally the place where you make your lifelong friendships and get to hang out with go out with. I've kind of had like a different lifestyle simply because social media really isolates you a lot and it's like a great job. I love what I do, but it really does isolate you a lot. I spend a lot of time at home. It is not easy to make friends, especially in this space that's full of like comparison and jealousy, and not a lot of people want what's best for you genuinely all the time. But with all that being said and with that introduction being said, I was about to come on here and start this episode giving you guys friendship red flags and four things that you should look out to when making friends like red flags and be aware of this and be aware of that and don't be friends with this type of person. But then I thought to myself, okay, it is obviously very valid and okay to be aware of the people that you surround yourself with and the people that you choose to be friends with, but how about I look internally? And how about instead of making this episode about the external and about everyone else around me, I turn this episode into a self-reflection episode instead. What can you do now and today to become a better friend? I am a firm believer and I've said it always and I will continue to say it that you attract who you are. Which also means that if you want to attract good friends and if you've ever been someone that struggles with friendships and is now scared to open up and be vulnerable with people because your friendships always end up badly. Sometimes you need to look within and sometimes you need to ask yourself, am I being a good friend or am I being the friend that I'm trying to attract? And if not, this is the episode for you. How can you become a better friend? Or how can you continue to be a good friend? Or how can you be an even better friend if you have a lot of friends, but sometimes you might disappear or ghost them and think that it's okay because they're your friends and they're going to be there for you forever. Or if you think that you don't have to keep up with them because they're not a real relationship or they're not a romantic relationship. I've learned lately that friendships are just as important or even more important to take care of than romantic relationships because I feel like it's already a default to take care of romantic relationships because it's what you know you're supposed to do when you're with a person, you talk to them 24/7 and you're with them all the time, whatever. But friendships are just as important and they are the ones that will be there for you in case that person breaks your heart or that relationship ends. Friendships will save you from heartbreak. Friendships will take you out of a deep hole. We are supposed to have people around us. I'm going to talk about that a lot throughout this season because I've also talked about loneliness and how to be okay with being alone and how to enjoy your own company. And as important as that still is, it is just as important to find a group of friends or to find one good friend that you can spend time with, that you can talk to, like you can have conversations with. And again, you will only find that and you will only find healthy friends when you yourself become a healthy friend. So besties, with that long introduction, welcome to today's episode. How to be a better friend without losing yourself, which is also extremely important. Now, we're going to talk about how to be an actual friend, not just the type of friend that we follow each other on Instagram, we comment on each other's posts, we react to each other's stories. not an online friend, not the online version, not the aesthetic type of friend that you see online and you're supposed to be and if I comment hard eyes on your picture, we're immediately best friends or I'm supporting you just because I'm commenting on all of your posts. But how to be a real friend, someone that people can't count on. Because the truth is that most of us were never taught how to be good friends. We were taught how to be liked, how to be easy, and how to not take up as much space. Now besties, being a good friend is not about being perfect. It is about being aware. This episode is not about blaming anyone, but it is about self-awareness and looking inward. Because the truth is that every single friendship has two sides. And for a relationship to be healthy and for a relationship to maintain itself, it needs two people. And one of them is you. And growth starts when you are willing to become aware of your side of your part and how much weight you have on the friendship. Step number one to become a better friend. Besties, a better friend is a self-aware friend. Most friendship issues don't come from bad intentions. They come from misunderstandings. They come from blind spots and they come from conversations that we never have because our ego doesn't allow us to. Self-awareness in friendships means knowing how to react when you feel triggered. Knowing what to do when you feel left out, knowing when and if you shut down, you get defensive, you get aggressive, you become passive, and knowing how you handle conflict. Psychological research literally shows that people who lack self-awareness often overestimate how good of friends they are. Not because they're bad people, but because they've never slowed down to observe and recognize their patterns. So, if you want to look inward and you want to become self-aware, ask yourself these questions. Number one, do I listen to respond or to understand? This is extremely important not only for romantic relationships. It is important to listen to your friends and it is important to create a safe space so that your friends are able to communicate when they're triggered by you or when something that you did was uncomfortable for them. It is so easy to call out friends when they make us uncomfortable. You did this and you did that and you were a bad friend to me in this aspect and you didn't do this or I wish you would have done that. But do you listen to your friends? Or do you create a safe space for your friends to open up to you, to let you know what you did, and to let you know that you made a mistake? Because sometimes we lack so much self-awareness that we don't even know that our friends are scared of us. I've been that friend. I've been the friend that people are scared of to open up to. I've been the passive aggressive friend. I've been the friend that likes to call everyone out but doesn't really look inward or is open enough to accept criticism. And I lost a lot of friends because of it. And there was a period of time back in 2022 where I literally had no friends because I did not accept any single comment that was impositive towards me. It is very important to understand and realize that if someone wants to open up to you about something that you did to them instead of just walking away, it means that they care about the relationship. Because if you really think about it, if someone didn't care about you and you made them mad and you made them uncomfortable, they would just simply ghost you and walk away. If someone is brave enough to be triggered by you and on top of that want to have a conversation with you to let you know that you have hurt them to fix things and for you to apologize instead of seeing it as, oh, they're just attacking me and they're not seeing my side of the story or they're just being dramatic and they take everything personal and get offended by everything. think to yourself and realize, wow, this person is brave enough to number one, tell me that I hurt them because it is not easy at all. And number two, they care about me and the relationship enough to instead of just walking away and ghosting me, wanting to have a conversation and literally just looking for an apology from me to be okay again. switch your perspective and understand that if someone wants to fix things with you or if someone is opening up to you, it means that they care about their relationship enough and they care about you enough to stay. Question number two that you have to ask yourself, do I make conversations about me without realizing it? And this is something that a lot of people do again without realizing it. And it is very normal, but it's so so something that you have to become aware about because if you do it, even if it's unconsciously so much, people will want to stop having conversations with you. If every single time that someone brings something up to you that they want to talk to you about and that literally they just want you to listen and you flip the conversation to now talk about you yourself and your personal struggles or your personal experiences, that person will never feel heard because you never really gave them a solution or you never really helped them or maybe they weren't even looking for a solution. They were looking for someone to listen to them and instead you made them listen to you. It is not a safe space for them anymore, but you have turned it into a safe space for you. And again, it can happen unconsciously. Sometimes we do it, and I include myself as a way to relate to them, not as in I just want you to listen to me, but oh my gosh, yeah, I've been through that too, and this is how I handled it. Sometimes it can come off as what you're telling me is not that important because I've also been through it and it's normal to go through it when for that person, it might be very important. Maybe they just want to share it with you. Number three, do I communicate my feelings or do I just expect others to guess them because I assume that they would know that what they did is wrong or what they did would hurt me. And assuming is literally one of the biggest mistakes that you can ever make in any type of relationship. And it's in the four agreements, the book. I really recommend it. Do not assume. Ask. Have conversations. Be brave enough to be like, "Is this what you meant?" or is this what you meant to do or how you meant to make me feel? Because most of the times and if that person really cares about you, the answer is that they didn't. Sometimes people don't know how they hurt you or what they did to hurt you. And that doesn't make your feelings not valid. It just means that you have to communicate them for them to validate them and for them to understand them. Because again, we're all different. Just like it's your first time being their friend, it is also their first time being your friend. I actually went through a friendship breakup recently over this because a situation happened where that person assumed that I was supposed to think in the way that she thought and because we were very different. I didn't and she took it personal, never brought it up to me, was mad at me without even me knowing that she was mad. And because I didn't apologize over something that I didn't even know I did, we cut each other off and I was extremely confused. And she was like, "Yeah, because you did this, this, and that." And I was like, well, you have to separate your the feelings from the facts. And the facts is that I did this and I didn't know that it was going to make you feel like this. And I would have probably apologized if you communicated with me that you felt like this, but you never did. And the friendship just ended there. And that is why it is so important to communicate your feelings because sometimes they are so far away from the facts and you will never know unless you communicate. And number four, very connected with number three. Do I disappear instead of addressing issues? And if the answer is yes, you have to be better besties. Especially if you want to maintain relationships, especially if you want to maintain friendships for the rest of your life or if you want friendships to last for years. People are not mind readers. And you will not always get an apology because like I said, some people will never know that they hurt you unless you communicate it instead of disappearing. you give up on the relationship as soon as things get hard or as soon as someone triggers something in you that they didn't even know was a trigger. If you care about the person, if you care about the relationship, if you've truly leaving the ego aside, think that this friendship is is worth fighting for, overstep your ego, become conscious, become self-aware, and instead of disappearing, address the issue. Awareness is not blame. Awareness is clarity. One of the most common mistakes when it comes to friendships is thinking that you're listening while you're actually just waiting for your turn to talk. Real listening looks like not interrupting with your own story. And again, not bringing something that happened to you while someone is being vulnerable, sharing something that happened to them. Not immediately offering it advice because sometimes people just need to be heard. And sometimes people are just looking for a space to communicate their feelings that they've been bottling up waiting to share them with you. Not minimizing emotions. Just because it wouldn't have hurt you doesn't mean that it's not hurting them. Just because you can't understand it doesn't mean that they're not going through pain. And not redirecting the focus back to yourself. Sometimes the focus will be on you. And whenever you need that person to listen to you, the focus has to be on you for it to be reciprocal. But sometimes the focus is going to be on them. And your ego has to become okay with that. Studies literally show people feel closer to friends who ask thoughtful follow-up questions rather than just giving solutions because you make them feel like you're actually listening to them and not like you're just waiting for your turn to talk and share your experiences instead. Next time that you're having a conversation with someone and you catch yourself about to say, "The same happened to me." or whenever I went through this, this happened or I went through that same thing as well. Try to replace it with how did that make you feel? How do you feel right now? What have you been doing to feel better? Do you want my advice or do you just want support? Do you want my genuine honest opinion and what I'm actually thinking and feeling? Or do you just want me to listen to you? And both are fine. And you have to be okay with both. That's another thing. You have to be okay with your friends not wanting your advice because this is a situation that they are going through and they are going to learn how to navigate by their own life experiences and in the way that God wants them to navigate it and go through it. Sometimes I feel like as friends we make the mistake to get frustrated with our friends because they're not navigating situations the way that we would. And the truth is that just because you would go through a certain situation in a certain way doesn't mean that your friend has to go through it in that same certain way. And that has nothing to do with the friendship. Your homework as a friend is to be there for your friend regardless. And no matter how they choose to navigate that certain situation, ask what do you need from me right now? And whatever that is, you have to be okay with and you have to respect it. Sometimes presence is more powerful than answers. Sometimes just being there for someone is way more powerful and more important to them than any piece of advice that you would want to give them. Consistency is better than intensity. Most friendships don't really end over betrayal. Most people don't hurt each other intentionally, but they fade because of inconsistency. and they fade because of the excuse of I was way too busy or sorry I didn't see your text or sorry I wasn't on my phone or sorry life has just has been so chaotic that I haven't had the time to text back. That is a lie. We are on our phones 24/7 and I can literally grab my phone right now and text my best friend back. It takes me 10 seconds and I can go about my day. It takes 10 seconds to text back. It takes 20 seconds to check out your phone and have a conversation with a friend. It is a lie that you haven't been on your phone. It is a lie that you have been way too busy to answer when literally all you do is scroll on your phone 24/7. Relationships break because of inconsistency. And just like you're waiting for a text back from a guy that wants nothing to do for you, you should be just as focused. And it should be just as important to you to text your friends back, to follow up with your friends. Hey, how are you? How was your day? How have you been doing? How are you feeling today? Even if it's twice, three times a week. People have time for what they want to have time for. And the fact that you've been way too busy to text back is not enough of an excuse. You're just being a bad friend. Being a good friend doesn't mean constant availability. And it doesn't mean that you have to be available 24/7. But it means reliable presence. Be there for your friends. And I could talk about my current friends and the friends that I have right now and the people that I get to call my best friends today for hours. I love my people. Every single person that I have in my life right now, I love. I have nothing nothing nothing bad to say about anyone that I get to call and have the privilege to call my friends right now. Literally, it was the vision board party two weeks ago. I told you guys that I had the first week of January or like the second week of January, I hosted a vision board party. And of course, me having 100 million things to do and leaving everything for last minute, I realized that I went to buy all the materials with two of my friends. And that was like literally a day before the vision board launch party. That's a story for another day. I need to work on my time management. That's literally besides this point. We're not talking about me right now. But I bought all of the materials. I thought that I had everything ready. And then the next day when I got to the place literally at 4:00, the vision board party started at 6:30, I realized like, oh my gosh, I didn't print a poster. Like literally the most important part of like the whole setup, which is what people were going to take a picture of and tag the podcast, which obviously the point of like the event was obviously to have fun and network, but it was awareness to the podcast and to the studio, which very kindly gave me the place. I didn't have a poster for people to take pictures of and with. And I didn't have the time either. I was in Windwood and if you live in Miami, you know that Friday at 5:00 p.m. it's literally impossible to drive anywhere in Miami because of traffic. It is it is literally so insane. And so I had two of my best friends, Mari and Nikki coming to my event. You guys have probably seen them like posted on my social media. I post them all the time. But Mari was driving an hour and 30 minutes from her house to Winwood. She was so far and she was driving all the way from her house to Winwood on a Friday night just to come to my event. And when I realized that I don't have a poster, I call her and I'm like, "Dude, Marty, you're going to kill me. I know that you're probably super far away and you're rushing, but I really need you to go to FedEx right now because I really need to print a poster." Immediately, 5 minutes later, she was in FedEx asking to print my poster. For some reason, it didn't work out. She couldn't print my poster. She drove all the way to Winwood. When she called me that she couldn't print a poster, my second immediate thought was called Nikki. Nikki, please. I need you to go to FedEx and print my poster. Five minutes after I call her, she was in FedEx printing my poster and she got there 30 minutes late because she was printing my poster. Shows up with the poster and I was able to have a poster. But my point is that presence and friendships and being available for when your friends need you is probably the most incredible gift that you can have to then also receive. Because if you're there for your friends, your friends will be there for you. The only reason as to why I feel comfortable enough to call them and ask them for a favor like that, which it could have been any other thing, but I've called Maddie for favors multiple hundred thousand times, and she's called me for favors multiple hundred thousand times. The only reason as to why I feel comfortable enough to call her and ask her for something without being scared to ask her is because she knows and I know that if she were the one to call me in 5 minutes I would have been in FedEx to do the exact same thing because we're both present in each other's life. We're both available in each other's lives. And it is such an important quality to have as a friend. Be there for your friends. Be available. Be available genuinely without expecting anything back, without being like, "Oh, because I did you a favor, now you have to do me a favor the next time." No. Be there for your friends. Be willing to do favors for them. Be willing to make their life easier because I promise you that whenever you need something, you really truly want friends that are available and willing to do things for you. And that will only happen when you're willing and available to do things for them. Also, very important, be consistent. And consistency looks like checking in when nothing is dramatic. Checking in when nothing dramatic is happening. Just checking in because you're checking in. Hi, how are you? How are you doing? How was your day? How are you feeling? Are you feeling okay? How have you been feeling lately? Is there anything that you want to talk about? How was your day? And just talk about each other's day. Remembering important moments, prioritizing special dates, following through on plans. I feel like it's so romanticized on social media. And I see it all the time. me being happy when my friend cancels plans because now I get to stay in and chill at home. Do not romanticize isolation and do not romanticize loneliness and do not confuse cancelling plans and not following up with your friends with protecting your peace and your mental health because your friends are supposed to add to your peace and to your mental health. And if they're not, then they're just simply not your friends. But do not confuse isolating from your friends or cancelling on your friends as protecting your energy because you're not protecting your energy or you're not protecting your mental health. You're just being a bad friend. Emotional safety shows that predictability builds trust. People trust what they can rely on. If it's your friend's birthday and they invite you and you cancel simply because you didn't have the energy to go, they might invite you to something else. And if you cancel that too, they might invite you to a third thing already assuming that you're going to cancel. But on the fourth time, they're not even going to invite you anymore. And then eventually, you're going to ask yourself, why is it so hard for me to make friends? Why is it so hard for me to find people to hang out with? Cuz you're not a good friend cuz you're not there for your friends when they need you. Cuz you don't show up to important dates. And again, it doesn't make you a bad person. It just makes you a bad friend. You don't have to be loud. You don't have to be texting someone 247 all the time, all day, every single day because obviously you also have your things to do. You have your routines. You have your plans. But be consistent and be present. How to be a better friend. Do not make their heart moments about your discomfort. Many people pull away when their friends are struggling not because they don't care, but because their discomfort feels overwhelming to them. And I've seen it so much. That person has issues. That person is going through it. their vibe or like their heavy energy is like translating into mine. And don't get me wrong, there is a very fine line in between sharing your issues with your friends and making your issues their issues, which that's not okay at all. Your friends are not your therapists. But as a friend, when your friend is going through a hard time, that is when they need you the most. And you have to have enough grace to understand that their energy and their mood and their attitude and their emotions are not going to be 100% because they're going through a tough time. And that doesn't mean that there are bad vibes or they're bad energy. You just have to have again grace and comprehension about the fact that they're going through it. And when you go through it, you would want them there. Don't pull away just because you don't know what to say or because you don't want to say the wrong thing. And so instead of not wanting to say the wrong thing or not knowing what to say, you don't say anything at all and you just simply completely disappear and ghost. Being a better friend means choosing presence over perfection. And it means I don't entirely know how to be there for you right now, but I'm going to choose to be there for you anyways because you need me and I know that. That can literally look like sitting in silence saying or even communicating it. I don't know what to tell you right now, but I'm here for you. If you want to share or overshare anything with me, I'm here. Allowing someone to feel without rushing them to heal just because you want your friend back. But avoiding someone during their hardest moments of their life is very selfish and it only teaches them or it lets them know that they're only lovable or worthy to be friends with when they're doing good and when they're feeling 100%. Again, besties, presence matters more than perfect words. Honesty without kindness is just criticism. And listen to me on this one. Please listen to me carefully on this one. There is a way to be honest and not aggressive. There is a way to be honest and not attack the other person and make them feel horrible about themselves. There is a way to be honest with grace and with love. And if honesty doesn't have love behind it, it is just hate and it is criticism. Honesty in a friendship is extremely important. But delivery is just ass or even more important. Being real doesn't mean being careless. And it's not only about what you want to say, but it is also about how you say it that will make the person grow and be better. Healthy honesty is specific. It is grounded and centered in care and love. It is shared at the right time and it is free of humiliation. There is a way to be honest with a person without absolutely destroying them their confidence. And there is a way to be honest without completely humiliating them. Before giving any feedback and before being honest with a friend, ask yourself, what intention am I doing it with? Do I want to share this honest thought with them because I want them to feel bad about themselves or do I want to share this honest thought with them because I genuinely want them to be better? Am I saying this to help them or am I sharing this to help me release my own frustration? Is this the right moment? And are they in the right headsp space to listen to me? And is this something they can actually change? I'm gonna give a really stupid example, but let's say that you don't like that shirt that your friend is wearing. And you go up to them and you're like, "Hey, I if I'm being completely honest, I don't necessarily think that that shirt is fitting for, I don't know, the place that we're going to." and it is that person's favorite shirt and it is that person's style and it is how they choose to dress and it is how they like to dress every single day. Who are you to tell them what they're supposed to wear? And who are you to tell them how their style is supposed to look like unless it is something they can actually change or would want to change? Some opinions and some comments and some thoughts are meant to be kept to yourself. Truth should be supportive and honesty should be from a place of love, not shame. respect their boundaries and your own. Good friendships and the best type of friendships are not built on unlimited access. They are built on mutual respect. And healthy friendships include emotional boundaries, time boundaries, energy boundaries. And a better friend doesn't guilt someone for needing space. A better friend doesn't take boundaries personal. Communicate your boundaries, but also respect and accept their boundaries without building resentment. Unspoken expectations are one of the fastest and easiest ways to damaging a friendship. And how to be a friend. Step number seven, last but definitely not least, one of the most important ones is to celebrate your friends without comparing your success or your achievements to them. Comparison quietly or very loudly damages friendships. A better friend celebrates without competing. A better friend doesn't downplay your wins. A better friend doesn't make you feel uncomfortable about your success. And a better friend doesn't bring up their achievements just because you feel comfortable enough to share yours. A better friend doesn't disappear as soon as their friend grows. Celebrate loudly. Make your friends feel celebrated. Make your friends feel important or like what's important to them is also important to you. And besties, that is our list. And that is it for today's episode. No one is a perfect friend. We all miss texts. We have all canceled plans. We have all been or given the excuse of being too busy. We all misunderstand. We all make mistakes. Being a better friend is not about never messing up. And being a better friend is not about being the perfect friend. It is just about reflection, having more self-awareness, and truly caring as much as you would want people to care for you. It is about repairing. It is about growing. And it is about understanding that friendships are important. And because they're important, they should be taken care of with love, respect, and putting in the work. Ask yourself, where can I show up with more intention? How can I be a better friend? Or where am I lacking in the friendship aspect that I'm not giving, that I'm expecting, and that I could give so that I start receiving? That's it for today's episode, besties. Sometimes growth means leaving people behind. That doesn't just mean relationships that end in betrayal or conflict, but rather people who simply no longer fit into the version of yourself that you're becoming. It can be painful, but it's often necessary. At some point, we all reach a stage in our life where we realize that our circle of friends or the people we surround ourselves with no longer align with who we are or who we really want to become. Maybe you've had friendships that once felt effortless. But as time passes, you notice a gap between your values, your goals, or even your energy levels. This doesn't mean that these people are bad for you, or that you've outgrown them in a condescending way. It's more about how your individual growth journeys can diverge. Imagine a plant growing in a garden. At one point, it needed the same amount of water and sunlight as the other plants around it. But eventually, it starts reaching for something different. It might still appreciate the sunlight, but it has different needs now. It needs more space, different care, and perhaps even a different environment. The same thing happens with our relationships. We might still care about these people, but as we evolve, our paths may naturally start to drift apart. And that's okay. Leaving people behind, especially people one shared our lives with, is hard. The emotional pain of this is real. You might feel guilt, anxiety, and even fear about what life will be like without those people. You might question, am I being selfish? Am I abandoning them? Growth often requires discomfort, and this discomfort is part of the process. We hold on to relationships for various reasons. Nostalgia, familiarity, a sense of duty. But growth asks us to prioritize our own journey. It's natural to feel conflicted. But think about it this way. When you evolve, you create space for new people, new experiences, and even new versions of the people that you already know. Sometimes people are meant to stay for a season and not for an entire journey. Growing isn't just about what you're leaving behind. It's about what you're moving forward. We often talk about the people we leave behind as though we're losing something. But in reality, we're creating room for a new relationships, new opportunities, and perspectives. When you let go of a friendship that's no longer serving you, you make space for people who understand and support the version of yourself that you're becoming. This might not happen overnight. Sometimes it's a slow, gradual process, but by making conscious choices about the people that you let into your life, you invite those who resonate with your growth and who will encourage you to reach higher. It's not just about shedding old skins. It's about surrounding yourself with those who will inspire you to continue to evolve. Navigating those awkward conversations is one of the hardest and scariest parts. If you've decided that a relationship no longer serves you, it's time to face the reality of potentially confronting the person involved. Maybe it's a friend who doesn't understand your new priorities or a partner who can't support your changes. These conversations can feel incredibly awkward or even heartbreaking. But remember, these conversations don't have to be about blame or anger. They can be about honesty, mutual respect, and understanding. You can acknowledge the good times you've shared, express your gratitude, and be clear about the changes that you're experiencing. You don't have to justify your growth, but you can gently communicate the distance that has grown between you and them. Sometimes the most respectful thing that you can do is to allow both of you the space to grow in your own directions. When we allow ourselves to grow, when we embrace the discomfort of letting go, something beautiful happens. We create space for freedom. The freedom to be our truest selves without the weight of expectation. Without the weight of limitations of old patterns or people who no longer align with who we are. Freedom means the ability to take risks, explore new possibilities, and redefine what happiness looks like to you. Sometimes that freedom can only come when we give ourselves permission to outgrow relationships that have run their course. Start by setting boundaries not as way to shut people out but as a way to make sure that the people in your life are contributing to your growth. Surround yourself with those who challenge you in healthy ways, who push you to think bigger, dream bolder and take actions that lead you to the life that you truly want. At the end of the day, growth is a journey that's unique to each of us. It requires making tough decisions and sometimes that means letting go of people who were once close to you. But it also means opening ourselves up to a new experiences, new relationships, and new opportunities that will help us become the best versions of ourselves. If you're finding it hard to let go, remember grow doesn't always have to be dramatic. Final break. Sometimes it's simply a gentle distancing. And in the process, you may find that the people you leave behind are also able to grow in their own way and in their own time. You're not abandoning them. You're both on different journeys and sometimes that's how it's meant to be. Growing as a person, pursuing your goals and stepping into the faces of your life often means leaving people behind that you care about. It doesn't mean that you stop loving them or that they are inherently bad people. But it does mean that your paths are no longer aligned. And that can create some really difficult emotional moments. It's perfectly normal to outgrow people. In fact, it is a sign of your own growth. As we age, evolve, and experience life, our perspective shifts and our goals change. The things that once felt so important, whether it's staying in a particular social circle or participating in old habits start to lose their meaning. This doesn't mean that the people who were once part of your life and your journey have suddenly become bad or irrelevant, but it is more about how we change as individuals. At first, this can be jarring. It feels like you're losing something and that's okay to feel. The truth is we all go through phases where certain people serve a specific purpose in our lives. Whether it's a time of comfort, companionship, or shared interests, but eventually those purposes evolve and so do we. One of the hardest parts about growth is the pain that comes with it. Letting go of relationships, even ones that were extremely close, can be emotionally draining. And often it is not as simple as just walking away. It might involve complicated feelings of guilt, sadness, and even fear of being alone. When we outgrow people, there's often a feeling of leaving them behind, like we're abandoning them. We wonder if they'll be okay without us, or if they'll resent us for changing. And there's a part of us that might feel like we're not allowed to grow, to change, if it means losing those relationships. Growth doesn't happen in a vacuum. To grow, you often need space, mental energy, and emotional bandwidth. That certain relationships might drain. Holding on to relationships out of guilt can keep you from stepping into the next version of yourself. It can keep you stuck in old patterns and ways of thinking that no longer serve you. It's important to acknowledge the pain of this process. It's not easy, but as difficult as it may be, this is where we find the courage to honor our own evolution. And in the end, letting go is often a form of self-respect. Embracing the idea that growth sometimes means leaving people behind opens up a whole new world of possibility. While it's natural to grieve the relationships you've grown, there's a beauty in accepting that not everyone is meant to be with you through every chapter of your life. Once you've cleared out the space that certain relationships occupied, you allow new, more aligned people to enter your life. These are the people who will meet you where you are now, not where you were a few years ago. These are the individuals who will challenge you to grow further, push you beyond your comfort zones and support you as you chase your dreams. It's important to remember that you're not necessarily closing the door to an old relationship forever. Sometimes people might come back into your life when the time is right, but at any given moment, it is okay to let go if you need to. You can honor the past while still moving forward with your life. When you let go, you also create room for new experiences that will push you further. You might find yourself joining a new community, picking up a new hobby or traveling somewhere you never thought possible. It's not just the people you leave behind, but the version of yourself that's tethered to those past identities. As you grow, you see that there's a world full of opportunity out there. And letting go is the first step towards that adventure. Whether it's a friendship that's failing, or a relationship that no longer feels right. Having that breakup talk can be awkward, uncomfortable, and honestly a little bit heartbreaking, it is important to approach these conversations with care. Sometimes it's just a matter of distance. You might not need a formal conversation. It could just be a matter of not spending as much time together, not initiating plans, and allowing the relationship to naturally fade out. But other times, you might need to have a direct conversation, especially if there are expectations involved or if the person involved has noticed the change in dynamics. Be clear about your needs, but also give the other person the space to feel their feelings. These conversations don't need to be filled with blame or judgment. They're simply a part of the natural process of moving on and creating space for what's next. When you let go of what no longer serves you, it's not just about cutting people off. It's about embracing the freedom to become who you were always meant to be. This freedom is a gift. It might make you feel like you're walking into the unknown. It can be a little scary and at times you might even feel a little lost. But the freedom that comes with stepping away from relationships that no longer align with your growth gives you the opportunity to create a life that is truly yours. You no longer have to conform to expectations of others. You can focus on your personal dreams, your ambitions, and your happiness without the weight of keeping people in your life who are no longer a fit. This is a point where growth starts to feel liberating. You'll be able to take more risks, explore new aspects of yourself, and form relationships that feel like an authentic extension of who you are. This new space mentally, emotionally, and physically, will help you embrace your fullest potential. Growing is uncomfortable, but it's also deeply rewarding. It means embracing change, letting go of the past, and sometimes leaving people behind. It's not about being selfish. It is about being true to yourself. It's important to honor your own journey, even if it means you'll no longer be walking side by side with some of the people that you were once closest to. Growth is about stepping into your highest potential. And you can't do that if you're holding on to relationships that are holding you back. You're not alone. And every step you take forward is a step closer to the person that you're meant to be. Keep growing, keep evolving, and keep creating the life that is uniquely yours. And if you're not new here, bestie, welcome back to another week. Welcome back to another episode. Today we have a really good topic. Today we have a really good episode. Today we have something that I might even need to hear too. How to stop comparing yourself to someone else's timeline. How to stop feeling behind. How to stop feeling like time is running out because someone else is doing more or achieving more than you. How to truly trust that you're not behind. And how to learn and have faith and trust that your timeline is perfect and should not be compared to anyone else's. Let's get into it. It's going to be a long really good episode and I want to start talking about the lie that we believe and the lie that we keep believing and the loop that we fall into and literally the reason as to why it takes us to compare ourselves and feel jealous and eventually procrastinate because we feel like we're so behind and we feel like we have so many things to do and then eventually we don't even end up doing any which takes us to even more comparison and even more procrastination. I'm talking to myself right now and if you relate again this episode is for you. But I really need you to sit down and listen to this because I learned this last year and has allowed me to start this year way slower following my gut and trusting my intuition and allowing me to rest because last year I fell into such comparison loop and I felt like I wanted to do everything all at once and didn't even allow myself to eat or to sleep or to rest. This year I'm taking it a little bit slower, but I really want you to sit down and listen to this. You are not behind because you're literally not competing with anyone. And if you feel like you're competing with someone, your brain has lied to you. Who told you that you had to be in the same place that that other 20-year-old or that other 21-year-old or because that person is achieving this, you should be there as well. Who told you that life is a competition? There is no way that you feel behind unless you're competing with someone. And if you are competing with someone, your brain is lying to you. Now, I know it feels like you are. I know what it feels like to scroll and see everyone achieving their dreams while you're in bed wishing you were experiencing the same thing they're experiencing. I feel what it is to feel that anxiety and to feel like everyone got a manual and everyone got instructions of how to get to where they are and you for some reason didn't. like everyone is hitting milestones, like everyone is achieving their dreams, their goals, their aspirations, and you're still trying to figure yourself out. I know what that feels like. I've been there. But the feeling of being behind is not proof. It is literally just comparison. And comparison is distortion. That is what I'm here for today, besties. Today, we're breaking down why your brain does this, how culture and society amplifies it, and ultimately how to heal it, and finally learn how to trust your own timeline. Now, let's talk about social media and how social media warps your timeline. Because we consume content and we consume highlight reels and we consume other people's life in a way that our brain was never designed to process it. Social media was created by humans without knowing that the human brain was not ready for social media and the human brain was not designed to consume social media. Your brain naturally compares to understand status and to understand safety. That's literally just evolutionary psychology. The problem is that you are comparing your everyday life to someone's curated peak moments. Nobody posts themselves in bed and nobody posts themselves procrastinating. Nobody posts themselves crying that they are comparing themselves. Everyone curates their feed to show the best moments of their life. Sometimes for people to see it, sometimes just to keep it to themselves. You're comparing your chapter 3 to someone else's chapter 15 without realizing and keeping in mind that their chapter 3 probably looked like yours or even messier or even more painful. Every single person goes through their journey and every single person goes through their process and every single person also has selective exposure and every single person also curates their feed and when you consume enough selective exposure it becomes your perceived truth. So, if I spend months working on a project and I spend hours editing pictures and I spend hours curating my carousel and choosing a caption that portrays it as if my life is perfect and has always been amazing, it's going to take you 3 seconds to see it and decide that you're behind because of the post that you just saw. not knowing that it took me hours to edit, hours to curate it, and months to even accomplish getting that post. But your only truth and the only thing that you kept is the fact that you're behind. Now, this is normal. We all do it. Social media is there for everyone to see. But comparison activates the brain's threat system, which is super interesting. I'm very passionate about neuroscience and how things actually work in our brain. But when you see someone succeeding, your brain interprets this as a competition for limited resources, which then triggers stress and it creates urgency. Like only one person in this world is allowed to achieve their dreams. And because you're the one that has to get there, you have to hurry up. And that urgency and those triggers in your brain are processed and feel like it's too late. I'm not going to get there anymore. That person already got what they wanted, so I'm not going to get what I want anymore. But the truth is besties that succeeding and success and achieving your dreams and experiencing a happy life is not a limited resource. Someone else moving forward and someone else being happy is not a reason for you to feel behind and for you to feel sad. That is very selfish and that is a feeling that comes from your ego. Someone else moving forward and someone else succeeding does not mean that you're failing. Different timelines are not an evidence of failure. their evidence of individuality and their evidence that every single person does in fact have their own timeline and it is in fact meant for different things. Milestones are social constructs besties. The pressure that you feel it's cultural programming. We were taught to believe that things have to happen at a certain age or we were supposed to follow a certain timeline for us to be on track and for us to be on time. And that literally looks like you have to graduate by this age. You have to marry by this age. You have to have this amount of money by this age. You have to have kids by this age. Because that's where our parents taught us. But that's what their parents taught them. And that's what their parents taught your grandparents that then were taught to your parents and then they were taught to you. And this is where you have to sit down with yourself and understand the depression and the stress and the heaviness that you feel is not because of you. And that you finally have to make decisions for yourself. Decided that things had to happen by a certain age. It wasn't you. It was society. It wasn't your nervous system. It wasn't your gut. It wasn't your calling. It wasn't your growth path. And this is where you realize that you are literally measuring your life by a timeline that might not even be aligned with who you actually are. Your timeline is costume. And this is where you have to realize that there is only one you in this world. Because there is only one you in this world and only one you in this world has the life and has God's plan designed and curated for you yourself and no one else. then it means that no one else gets to decide your life because your life is only yours. If that makes sense. I try to word it in a way that makes sense. But I hope that you and I understand each other and it makes sense. There is only one mafian sudas in this world. And because there's only one mafian student in this world, God designed one mafian timeline in the history of this world. Like there's not one life in this entire planet that is exactly the same as mine because there is only one me. Which means that there is no way that no one else, not my parents, not my grandparents, not my teachers, not my coaches know what is meant for me and what will be good for me because there is only one me. The advice that I receive comes from them and their own customdesigned timelines. Your timeline is custom. You cannot rush becoming who you are meant to be because development is not linear. Some seasons are for building, some seasons are for healing. Some seasons are for experimenting and then some seasons are for failing. And that will be for the rest of your life. Your life will be divided by seasons and your life will be full of pain and joy and heartbreak and growth. But just because you are in a slower season doesn't mean you're stagnant and doesn't mean you're behind and doesn't mean that you should rush through your seasons because you want to get to what you think your seasons are supposed to be. You will literally figure out your life as you experience and live your life. And that is only something you can do because no one else has your life. Roots grow under the soil and under the ground before they bloom and before they show beauty. No one claps for roots. No one roots for roots. But roots literally determine how strong the bloom will be. And if the roots are not taken care of, the plant is not even going to bloom in the first place. Which means that you might feel like it's taking you a little bit longer or your process is a little bit slower or your journey looks different than someone else's. Someone else got there faster, someone's journey was a little bit more productive. But the truth is that the more time that you spend focused on your own journey and on your own process and on your own growth, the stronger that you're blooming and the stronger that your success will look like and be. Because again, the roots determine how strong the bloom will be. Now, believing that you're behind not only hurts, not only puts you through stress and through anxiety and through comparison, and it makes you rush, but it literally has consequences. And there is a cost to believing that you're behind. When you believe that you're behind, you make decisions from panic. And you make decisions from wanting to rush everything and having everything fast and done instead of alignment. You say yes to opportunities that don't align with you. You say yes to opportunities that don't align with your values and who you want to be as a person. You rush relationships. You get into the wrong relationships. You're with people that you know that you're not supposed to be with. You put yourself through toxic patterns. You have toxic friends. You're in toxic friend groups, in toxic environments, and in toxic places. You chase validation instead of chasing your own growth and your own success. And you burn out trying to catch up to a race that you created and that you were never even meant to run. You live from urgency and completely disconnect instead of living from intention. Then you look back at your life and you're like, I have been spending my whole entire life working because I want to get to the certain place where that person is instead of just experiencing and living my life instead. And if this is scaring you because you look back at your life and you're like, I've been rushing and I've been going through my life without even like realizing that I'm living my life and experiencing happiness and joy and I've been just experiencing anxiety and rush and urgency. That is a good thing because now you can wake up and change and reframe the season that you're in. Instead of asking yourself, why am I behind? Start asking yourself what is this season building in me? Instead of asking yourself, why don't I have that yet? Ask yourself, am I emotionally and mentally and spiritually ready to sustain everything that I'm asking for? If I were to get that tomorrow, would I be ready? Delay is not denial. And the fact that you don't have it yet doesn't mean you're never going to receive it. But the fact that you don't have it yet just means that God is giving you time to prepare yourself so that when it gives it to you, you're ready to hold it. Because if it gives it to you before you're ready to receive it, you're going to lose it. And then you're going to build even more resentment against God for taking it away from you, but it wasn't God taking it away from you. It was you pushing it away because of your immaturity and because of your urgency of wanting to have it. Sometimes delay is development. And sometimes the pace, even if it's slow, is protecting you. Now, if you think you're behind and if you think that your life is low and if you think that you never achieve anything in poor me, I never get what I want, I want you to look at yourself 3 years ago and see where you were and see where you are. And if you say that you haven't achieved absolutely anything, at least 1% of what you want in your life, it is a lie. Look at the mindset you had 3 years ago. Look at the person you were 3 years ago and look at what you had 3 years ago. the fears that you carried, the things that you thought that you would never get over and never survive, and yet you did. And you have gone through every single thing that you back then thought you would have never been able to overcome or to heal or to get over. Progress feels invisible while it's happening. But growth compounds and you are way further than you give yourself credit for. The reason as to why you feel so behind is because you're constantly putting yourself new goals and because you constantly want more for yourself. But that doesn't mean that because you constantly want more for yourself, you haven't achieved anything at all. Stop taking away credit from yourself and stop making yourself believe that you haven't achieved anything. Because if that's the case, you're never going to feel successful and you're never going to feel fulfilled in your life at all. Trusting your timeline means respecting your nervous systems capacity. It means understanding that sustainable growth takes time. It means that things that are worth experiencing and keeping take time developing and growing. And it means that choosing long-term alignment will always be better than short-term comparison. You are not raising anyone. You are becoming someone. You are not competing with anyone that you see online that you see on your feed. You're not competing against an influencer that you follow. You are competing against this current version of yourself and how you can be better and how you can be a better, most successful, emotionally intelligent, and spiritually more aware version of yourself than who you are today. That's literally the only thing that you have control over. And that is literally the only person that you're ever going to be able to beat is yourself. Besties, this is just your episode. as a reminder that you are exactly where you need to be. You are not behind. You're not missing anything. There's no way of missing out on something that is for you because if it's for you, it's going to be there for you. Unless it is that you're comparing it to the fact that someone else has it and that again is just comparison. But your life is not late. It is just unfolding. And it is unfolding exactly the way that God has it planned for it to unfold for you. You are not delayed. You are not behind. You are not late. You cannot be late to your own life unless again you're comparing it to someone else's. You are developing. You are growing. The version of you that already has everything that you want is not ahead of you on a clock. She is in the present moment. And she is built through daily choices, through selfrust, and through patience. You are not behind. You are exactly where you need to be, learning the exact lessons that you're meant to be learning right now to eventually become and receive everything that it is that you want. And this is just your reminder, besties. Sometimes we fall into comparison into that competition against our own age of I'm getting older and I should be here or I should have this or this person did it 3 years ago and I am 3 years older and I still don't have it or how is this person making this amount of money while they're so young or how is this person achieving these amount of things and I am 5 years older and I still don't know where I am or what I'm doing. That's literally torture for yourself. That's literally torture for yourself. You're never going to be able to beat them. While you continue to achieve and grow, they will also continue to achieve and grow because they're focused on themselves while you're also focused on them. Stop comparing yourself to someone by thinking they have it figured out when they are figuring it out just as much as you are. They're just not showing it to you. Instead, focus on yourself, on your own timeline, on your own journey, and see how your life starts changing by focusing your energy more in yourself than on someone else. And that is it for today's episode, besties. I hope you liked it. I hope that this reminder was helpful for you. It was very helpful for me. I hope that it awakes something in you that inspires you to start choosing yourself and focusing on yourself and on your timeline instead of someone else's. Sometimes our lives have to be completely shaken up, changed, and rearranged to relocate us where we're really meant to be. Sometimes change feels like loss. Transformation [music] is scary. And sometimes to discover the best versions of ourselves, we must let [music] go of absolutely everything that's holding us down. Welcome to I Missed Me, your new safe space. I'm [music] excited to form a part of your healing journey. Today, we're talking about something that completely shifted the way that I see my life. appreciation and not in a cheesy just be grateful kind of way, but I mean appreciation as an actual frequency and as something that changes what and who you attract into your life. Because here's the truth. What you appreciate appreciates. And the moment that you start seeing your life through that lens, everything begins to shift. Appreciation is awareness. So many of us are constantly chasing something. A new relationship, a better job, more followers, more recognition, more everything that we forget to actually see what's already here. You wake up thinking about what's missing instead of what's present. We talk more about what we lack than what we love. And we wonder why feels heavy or why nothing ever feels enough. The thing is, appreciation is presence. It's awareness. It's choosing to notice. And I know it sounds simple, but it's actually radical. Because most of us live on autopilot, running from one goal to another, one validation to the next, never stopping long enough to realize that half of the things that we have now were once things we used to pray for. Appreciation says, "I see it. I see the small things. I see how far I've come. I see the way I'm growing, even when it's slow." And the more you notice, the more you attract things that match that energy. Appreciation shifts your frequency. Think about the last time that you felt genuinely grateful. Like not just saying thank you, but actually feeling it deep in your chest. You probably felt peaceful, content, calm, and in that moment where you just open. That's the thing about appreciation. It opens you. When you live in a state of lack, you close off. You tense up. You compare, you overthink, you force. But when you're in appreciation, you soften. You stop chasing and start attracting. You start matching the energy of abundance. Not because you're faking positivity, but because you're finally aligned with what's real. Gratitude isn't delusion. It's awareness. It's saying, "I have enough right now." And when the universe sees that you treat what you already have with love, it gives you more. It gives you more to love. Relationships mirror appreciation. This one's big because appreciation doesn't just change your life. It changes your relationships. Think about it. When was the last time you felt deeply appreciated? Like someone genuinely saw your effort, your softness, your presence and said, "Thank you." It feels magnetic, right? It feels like you want to give even more. And that's what appreciation does. It fuels. It fuels connection. And that's why I say appreciation equals attraction. Because we're all drawn to the energy that sees us, values us, and celebrates us. The same way you crave that feeling, so does everyone else. So when you start living in appreciation, when you start noticing people, complimenting them, saying thank you, expressing love without fear, you become magnetic. You attract softness because you are softness. You attract love because you radiate it. And that doesn't mean you have to be overly positive all the time. It just means you're intentional about seeing the good even when life is hard. The way that appreciation rewires your mind is that the brain is wired for survival, not happiness. Which means it's constantly scanning for danger, for problems, and for what's missing. If you don't train it to notice beauty, it never will. Appreciation is that training. It's like teaching your brain to look for reasons to smile instead of reasons to stress. And over time it changes the way that you think. You start catching yourself before complaining. You start saying this moment is enough. You start feeling safe not because everything is perfect but because you trust yourself to see the light no matter what. And that's what draws better things towards you. Energy attracts energy. And appreciation is one of the highest frequencies you can operate in. So what appreciation sounds like in real life? It's not just saying I'm grateful for my bed or I love my friends, but it's saying I love the way that sunlight hits my face in the morning. And I am so lucky to have a friend that text me good morning. I love that I'm learning to love myself. It's specific. It's intentional. It's soft. It's texting your friend to say, "Thank you for being you." It's looking in the mirror and saying, "I am so proud of you." It's looking at your journey, even the messy parts, and saying, "This too is worthy of love." And when you start appreciating the tiny details, you start realizing that we're never tiny at all. The truth is, appreciation changes what you attract. People often ask, "How do I attract better?" And the answer is by appreciating what's already here. You want love? Start appreciating the love that already surrounds you. your friends, your family, even strangers who hold the door for you. You want abundance. Start appreciating what you already have. The meals that you eat, the home that you live in, the opportunities in front of you because you can't attract from lack. If your energy says, "I don't have enough," the universe believes you. But when your energy says, "I am grateful for everything that I have," the universe mirrors that. It's not about pretending everything's perfect, but it is about realizing that even in the imperfection, there's still so much beauty. And that kind of energy is magnetic. Appreciation brings you back to yourself. I think the most beautiful part about appreciation is that it grounds you, back and the present. So many of us are stuck in two places, the past or the future. We replay what went wrong or we stress about what's next. But appreciation brings you home to the now. It says, "This moment matters. I am safe right here. I am grateful for the version of me that made it to today." And once you start living that way, once you start waking up and actually seeing your life, you stop comparing. You stop needing validation. You stop chasing love that doesn't recognize you because suddenly you realize that you already have so much. [music] And that realization changes everything. Appreciation is self- loveve. You can't appreciate your life if you don't appreciate yourself. So start there. Appreciate your resilience. Appreciate your heart, how it still believes in love after breaking. Appreciate your body, how it carries you even on the hard days. Appreciate your mind, how it's trying its best to keep you safe. You can't attract love, peace, or abundance from a place of self-hate. You attract what you believe that you deserve. And when you genuinely start appreciating yourself, you stop settling for people or situations that don't. [music] Self- appreciation is self-respect. And self-respect is attraction. So, here's a daily appreciation practice. If you don't know where to start, here's something simple. Every [music] morning, before you grab your phone, before you scroll, before you even invite the world into your head, take a second to check in with you. Take a deep breath and say out loud or write [music] it down three things that you appreciate. They don't have to be big. You don't need to write down new car or promotion. But you can just start with I am grateful for the sun coming in through my window. I am grateful for my bed. I am grateful that I woke up today. Gratitude doesn't start when life becomes extraordinary. But gratitude is what makes life extraordinary. And [music] then at night, do the same. Think the day. Thank yourself. Think the moments that didn't make sense but taught you something anyways. And thank the little interactions that made you smile. Take the lessons you didn't know you needed. And if it was a hard day, thank yourself for surviving it. Because some [music] days survival is enough. Some days gratitude sounds like, "I made it through." The more you practice this, the more your energy shifts. You'll notice how lighter you start to feel calmer, [music] more open, and more magnetic. Not because everything in your life suddenly gets easier, but because you start seeing it differently. When your focus changes, your reality follows. You start realizing that the world hasn't changed, but you have. And that perspective changes everything. Gratitude isn't about ignoring the bad, but it is about giving the good a chance to speak louder. Because the truth is, there's always both pain and beauty, [music] chaos and calm. But appreciation helps you remember that both can coexist, that even in the middle of chaos, you still have something to hold on to. So try this tomorrow morning. When you wake up, don't reach for your phone, but instead [music] put your hand over your heart, take a deep breath, and just say, "Thank [music] you. Thank you for the chance to start again. Thank you for the body that keeps me alive. Thank you for my heart that still loves. Thank you for the lessons that made me softer instead of bitter." And then carry that energy with you. When you drive, look outside the window and notice how the sky looks different. Every day when you drink your coffee, notice how good it tastes when you're actually present. When you talk to someone you love, what a privilege it is to be understood. That's what appreciation looks like. It's not performative. [music] It's awareness. You'll start realizing that your life is full of quiet miracles. They've always been there. You just hadn't been looking. You'll notice the way your friends laugh when you say something funny. The way your pet runs to you when you walk into the door. The way your favorite song always finds you at the right time. The way the air smells after it rains. The way your younger self would be so proud of the life that you're living right now. And that's when appreciation becomes attraction. Because once you start seeing the beauty in everything, everything starts to look beautiful. The universe mirrors your energy. And when your energy says, "I'm grateful." The universe says, "Here's more to be grateful for." [music] So if you want to attract better, love better, opportunities better, peace, better. Start appreciating what's already in front of you. Because you can't attract from lack. You can't manifest from desperation. You attract from contentment. You manifest from faith. You call in abundance by recognizing that it's already here. [music] When you live in appreciation, when you live in appreciation, you attract people who appreciate you. You attract opportunities that align with your peace. You attract experiences that feel like home. You stop begging for what's meant for you because it naturally finds you. Because you become what you were chasing. And it all starts with noticing, with saying thank you, even for the smallest, most ordinary things. So, wherever you are right now, take a moment, [music] look around, and find one thing you can appreciate right now. Maybe it's the way the light hits your room. Maybe it's the fact that you're breathing. Maybe it's that you're listening to this, which means you still care about growing. And it doesn't have to be deep. Just whisper, "Thank you. Thank you for the breath in my lungs. Thank you for the chance to start over again. Thank you for the reminder that nothing is missing because I am already everything. Thank you for the people who stayed. Thank you for the ones who never left. Thank you for the ones who left. They taught me something, too. Thank you for the version of me that didn't give up. Thank you for the peace that's slowly finding its way back. And here's the thing about appreciation. It builds. It builds momentum. The more you practice it, the more natural it becomes. The more you say thank you, the more reasons you'll find to say it again. And one day, you'll realize that your entire energy has changed. You'll stop waking up with anxiety and start waking up with calm. You'll stop focusing on what's missing and start seeing what's here. And that shift, that quiet internal shift, is what changes your entire life. Because when you start appreciating, you stop searching. And when you stop searching, everything you were searching for finally has room to come in. Appreciation equals attraction. It's that simple and that powerful. And it's not just a practice. It's a way of being. A way of moving through the world with softness. A way of [music] saying, "I trust that what's mine won't miss me." Because when you live in appreciation, you're telling the universe, "I am ready." Ready to receive. Ready to let love in. Ready to see beauty. Ready to see beauty everywhere. And you become magnetic. Not because you're trying, but because you're aligned. So today and every day after this, find something to think. Find something to love. Find something to see differently. And I promise your life will start to feel lighter, slower, fuller, softer. And you'll start to realize that peace isn't something you find. It's something you notice. It's been here all along. What would life look like if you only invested your energy into the people, opportunities, and experiences that genuinely reciprocate your effort, your interest, and your love? It's not about being passive or settling. It is about living with clarity and intention. When I say, "I only want what wants me," I'm not suggesting we live in a world of constant mutual agreement. Life isn't that neat. And sometimes we have to chase our dreams or work through difficulties and relationships. But this mantra is about one thing, alignment. It is about recognizing when you're forcing something or holding on too tightly to something or someone that isn't aligned with you. How many times have you poured your heart into a relationship, a job, or even a hobby that didn't pour back into you? It's exhausting, isn't it? You start to question your own worth. But here's the truth. Your worth doesn't diminish because someone else can't see it. Instead of chasing, we could channel our energy into what flows naturally towards us. That's what today's episode is all about. A few years ago, a friend of mine was stuck in this on again, offagain relationship. She'd always be the one initiating texts, planning dates, and trying to fix things when they fell apart. And let me tell you, it drained her. One day, she heard this phrase, "I only want what wants me." It hurt her like a ton of bricks. She realized she was chasing someone who didn't match her energy, who didn't want her in the way that she deserved to be wanted. And now she is in a relationship where both partners are equally invested. They meet each other halfway. Every day she stopped chasing. And in doing so, she made space for what was meant for her. And it's not just a relationship. I want you to think about the job that brings you out but doesn't pay you as fairly or the friend that only calls you when they need something or the goals you're holding on to because of other people's expectations. Sometimes the best thing we can do is to let go of what doesn't want this back. Here are three steps to help you embody this idea. Pay attention to energy exchange. Ask yourself, does this person, opportunity, or experience bring energy into my life, or does it just take? Healthy relationships and fulfilling pursuits. Give us as much as they take. Stop forcing it. If you're constantly pushing for something, whether it's a job, a friendship, or a romantic relationship, pause. Forcing doesn't create alignment. It creates resistance. Trust the flow. This is the hardest part. Trust that what is truly meant for you will show up when you create space for it. It's not about being passive. It's about being selective. Wanting only what wants you isn't about giving up. It is about stepping up for yourself. It's about saying, "I am worthy of love, respect, and reciprocity. It's about being intentional with your time, your energy, and your heart." Reflect on one area of your life where you're holding on to something that doesn't want you back. What would happen if you let go? What would happen if you trusted that what's meant for you will find you? And remember, you're not chasing, you're attracting. You're not settling, you're aligning. Because at the end of the day, you only want what wants you. And that's more than enough. This isn't just a catchy phrase. It's a mindset, a practice, and honestly, a game changer. When we stop forcing things and start aligning with what generally reciprocates our energy, life begins to feel less like a struggle and more like a flow. To want something suggest desire, pursuit, longing. But the kind of wanting we're talking about today isn't rooted in desperation or lack. It's about invitation. It's about giving yourself permission to want only what comes naturally, easily, and authentically into your life. Society tells us to hustle, chase, and grind. If something doesn't work, the narrative says we just need to try harder. But here's the thing. What if trying harder isn't the solution? What if the solution is stepping back and asking, "Does this even align with me?" Success and fulfillment are not about forcing doors to open. It is about recognizing the doors that are already open and walking through them with confidence. The cost of chasing what doesn't want you is steep, both emotionally and mentally. It's like trying to swim upstream. Exhausting, frustrating, and ultimately unsustainable. Have you ever noticed how draining it feels to constantly convince someone or something of your worth? Whether it's a relationship, a job, or even a personal goal, that uphill battle can wear you down. And here's the kicker. The more that you chase, the less likely you are to achieve what you're chasing. The pursuit deterrence effect. The harder that you're trying to win someone over, the more they tend to pull away. It's human nature. Nobody likes to feel pressured. When you stop chasing and start aligning, you radiate a quiet confidence that naturally attracts what's meant for you. It's like flipping a magnet. Suddenly, instead of repelling, you're drawing in selfworth. Often the reason we chase what doesn't want us because we don't fully believe we're worthy of what does. If you've ever thought, "I'll take what I can't get or I don't deserve better," you're not alone. These beliefs are deeply ingrained, often rooted in past experiences or societal messaging. But the truth is, the way others treat you or the way opportunities respond to you isn't a reflection of your own worth. It's a reflection of their alignment with you. Living by the mantra, I only want what wants me, requires you to stand firmly in your own value. It's saying, I am enough as I am. I deserve connections and opportunities that see and celebrate that. This doesn't mean you won't face rejection or challenges. But it does mean you'll stop internalizing those moments as proof that you're not good enough. Instead, you'll see them as signs that something better is on its way. So, how do you know what genuinely wants you? Effort feels balanced. Whether it's a friendship, a job, or a creative project, there's a natural give and take. You don't feel like you're always the one initiating, planning, or problem solving. It feels light, not heavy. What wants you doesn't make you question your worth or drain your energy. It feels easy, not in the sense of no effort, but in the sense of flow. It's consistent. What once you shows up again and again. It doesn't ghost you, flake on you, or leave you second guessing. Think about these qualities in the context of your current life. Are there people or opportunities that fit this description? And if so, those are the areas where your energy will be the most rewarded. When you let go of what doesn't want you, you create a vacuum. And nature absorbs a vacuum. Letting go isn't just about saying no to one thing. It's about saying yes to everything else that's waiting to fill that space. I've seen this happen in my own life and in the lives of so many people I've spoken to. When you stop clinging to what's not working, better things begin to appear almost as if it was magic. But it's not magic. It's clarity. You're no longer scattering your energy in 10 different directions. You're focusing it. And that focus is incredibly powerful. You deserve ease, alignment, and joy. Life is too short to spend it, chasing what's running away from you. When you choose what only wants you, you're choosing yourself. You're saying, "I am enough, and I will invest my energy where it's truly valued." Trust the process. Trust yourself, and trust that what's meant for you won't require you to lose yourself to get it. Welcome to I Miss Me, your new safe space. I'm excited to form a part of your healing journey. [music] Hey besties, welcome back to another episode of I Miss Me. If you're new here, welcome. And if you're not new here, welcome back, bestie. I miss you. Happy Monday. I hope that you guys have been loving the rebranding. I hope that you guys have been loving the content, loving the episodes as much as I've been loving recording and re-recording. I missed podcasting so much. I really do feel it as my safe space and like my sacred time to like sit down, disconnect, and just talk about what I've learned, what I'm feeling, and what I want you guys to learn and carry with you. And with that being said, today we're going to talk about something extremely extremely extremely important that no matter what you do, no matter who you are, it matters. Like no matter what you're going through today, we're not going to talk about heartbreak. We're not going to talk about friendships. We're not going to talk about like relationships, but we're going to talk about something that has to do with ourselves. And as self-work, really really, really do have to do if we want to succeed in anything that it is that we want to do. Whether you want to start posting on social media, which is something that I talk a lot about, whether you want to start a new project, a new career, share your talents with the world, whatever it is that you want to start or do, you need to stop caring about other people's opinions. You need to stop letting what other people think affect what you do. You need to get over that fear of being seen. You need to get over that fear of being quote unquote cringey, quote unquote embarrassing. You need to get over that fear of any type of judgment that might come behind what you're going to do or what you're about to start because that is the only way that number one you're going to truly enjoy and be at peace with whatever it is that you're about to start or do and number two keep going and being consistent. I do see it a lot is again I talk a lot about doing social media and like started posting on social media. The most common thing that I see or hear is, "I'm finally going to start." And then they post one video and it didn't perform the way that they expected it or wanted it to perform and then because it didn't perform well, they get embarrassed that other people saw that it didn't perform well and then they stop posting. And this happens with absolutely everything. The reason as to why it's so important to not care is to be consistent and stay consistent regardless of of opinions or any judgments. So, welcome besties. Welcome back to another episode. We started off strong. and we started off honest. If you're someone who's afraid of what other people think of you, this episode is for you. The first thing that I want to let you know is that if you are scared of what other people think about you, it doesn't mean you're insecure. It just means that you're human. We've all cared at some point. We've all been affected. We've all over thought [laughter] what's the past tense of overthink. We've all been through overthinking stages of what are they going to think about us? What is this person going to say about me? what is this group of people going to talk about me when I do this or when I post this? And the truth is that most of us were taught how to be liked or how to be accepted before we were taught how to trust ourselves. And that is just a fact. Like if you look back, that's what we were taught in school. Have a lot of friends, be nice to everyone, behave, be respectful, and be liked. But we were never taught in school. how to trust ourselves, how to get over fear, how to stop caring, how to be afraid and do it anyways. I didn't learn that in school and I know that most people didn't learn that in school. So, what we did learn is how to edit ourselves to what other people expect us to be or to what's right or to what's normal. We learned how to adjust our tone, our opinions, and our honesty or what we really feel to feel accepted. And I just want to start off and clarify this episode by saying that this episode isn't about becoming someone who doesn't care at all. It is about learning how to care less in the places where caring is costing you your peace, your confidence, and your sense of self. Today we're going to talk about why caring what people think happens, how it affects us emotionally and mentally and how to heal and unlearn it and how your life will actually change and what actually changes when you stop living for approval and validation. And I really want you guys to let this episode be a conversation with yourself and a self-reflection of understanding the opinion that you have of yourself. Let's start off from the beginning. Now to heal something and I've always said it, we need to understand it. So let's start from the beginning. Why does this happen? Why do we care so much? Why do we care at all? And why do opinions have such an impact on us to the point where they hold us back and stop us from doing things that we really want to start and do? Caring what people think is a learned behavior. It comes from survival and it comes from belonging. Our mind is wired for survival. So caring literally comes from a survival instinct, from belonging, from feeling safe. And at some point in your life, you learned that approval and being liked and being loved by everyone around you felt safer than authenticity. And so you felt the need to put yourself inside a box to be more liked or to be more loved or to be more accepted. Maybe agreeing with everything kept the peace. And when you disagreed or when you gave your honest point of view, people would fight with you or people would judge you or they would talk behind your back. So you just learned how to agree with everything that everyone said to keep the peace and not fight with anyone. Maybe being quiet or not speaking up or being easy was rewarded for you and people pleasing was what you taught was right because it is what made you be loved and feel safe. But your brain remembers these patterns. It associates approval with protection. And so even now that you're more mature and you're more grown and you're more self-aware, judgment can feel very threatening. It can feel very scary and again it can set you back. Not logically or maybe not consciously but very subconsciously and very emotionally. Going back to social media, social media really does intensify this because we read comments and comment sections are full of hate and because we don't want to receive those hate comments ourselves, we just decide to not be out there or speak our mind at all. Opinions are constant. Validation is public. Feedback is quantified. And slowly we begin outsourcing our self-rust. We look outside ourselves for confirmation that we're okay. And we start comparing ourselves to what a good life or a happy life is supposed to look like. And if you're relating and if this is making you feel like it's you going through this or you went through this, you can now remove the shame and you can now remove the guilt and you can now remove that weight that you've been putting on yourself of why can't I get over my fear? Why can't I get over this weight of caring what other people think about me? Because you didn't choose this. You didn't choose to care and you didn't choose to be affected. You just adopted. Now the good news is besties. What is learned can also be unlearned. And the same brain that learned patterns is the brain that can break them. Now that we understand how it happens, where does it stem from? Why do we care so much? Let's talk about how it truly affects us so that you can put into perspective how much it's actually hurting you. And when you realize how much it's actually holding you back, you can now heal it. When you care too much about other people's opinions and when you care too much about what other people think, it doesn't just affect your confidence, it affects your identity. And that besties, I hope that it sounds very scary because number one it is and number two because it is so scary and because it is very dangerous to your success and to your potential you should want to break it ASAP and immediately. You hesitate before making decisions. You overexlain yourself. You second guess things that once felt simple and you delay starting because you are afraid of being misunderstood. Overthinking replaces intuition and burnout replaces joy. And eventually, because of how overwhelmed you are and lost in other people's opinions and don't know who you are anymore, you feel disconnected. Disconnected from your wants, disconnected from your dreams, disconnected from your instincts, disconnected from your inner voice. And the more that you seek approval, the less fulfilling life becomes. And this is because external validation was never meant to replace internal trust. Besties, the reason as to why it is so important for you to finally wake up and decide that you're going to stop caring is because you are missing out on opportunities that might be meant for you and that might make you the happiest version of yourself that unfortunately you're never going to get to experience if you keep postponing and if you keep delaying what you know you're meant to start but aren't because of what someone else thinks. I hope that scared you and I hope that it really intimidated you because only when you're scared of being stuck and only when you're scared of staying comfortable and fitting inside a box is the moment that you're going to want to get out of that box. Now that we're scared and now that we're terrified of staying inside that box our whole entire life, how do we heal it? And how do we get over caring about what people think? And the first thing that I want to say is that healing doesn't start with focusing on not caring at all. You don't wake up one day and you're like, "Fuck everyone. I don't care about anyone anymore. I'm gonna do whatever it is that I want. I don't care about you, you, and you. And I am shutting down the world and I am cutting everyone off." That's not how it works. It's not magic. And if you've been a people pleaser your whole entire life, you know that it is not that easy. But it starts with awareness. You start noticing when you're shrinking. You start noticing when you're letting yourself be affected. You start noticing when you are changing your plans around opinions. And you start noticing when you're editing yourself, when you're choosing comfort over alignment, and when you ask yourself whose approval are you actually seeking, and why? One of the most important shifts and changes that you have to start making is separating your identity and who you are from opinions. Because if you don't, you are going to get to know yourself through what someone else thinks about you. Someone misunderstanding you doesn't mean that you're wrong. And internal validation is built through small acts of self-rust. Keeping promises with yourself, saying what you mean, choosing alignment even when it feels uncomfortable and even when it requires to cut people off because they don't agree with what you're doing. And as you do this, your nervous system starts to adapt and it starts to learn something new. It starts to learn that it is safe to be yourself, to choose yourself, and to choose what you want before anything or before anyone. When you stop caring so much about what another person thinks about you, what a group of people is saying about you, life becomes lighter. The way that I like to see it is like a backpack. And you start life with the backpack empty. It's not heavy at all. You can carry it without even noticing that it's there. But every opinion starts being a rock. One rock you can carry, no problem. Two, maybe. Three, you kind of start feeling it. Four, five, six, it starts getting heavy. And by the seventh, you notice 8, 9, and 10, you might even have to stop to let the backpack down because of how heavy the backpack is becoming to carry. That is exactly opinions. The more opinions that you let in your mind, the heavier life gets to walk and carry. the heavier it gets to wake up and choose to do what you want to do because of how affected you are. Life becomes so much lighter when you decide you are going to care more about you than about them. You move faster. You decide with clarity. You stop asking for permission to exist, to start, to move, to restart. And again, what I said at the beginning, it does not mean that you become careless. I do not believe in not caring at all. I do not believe in not taking opinions and keep this in mind not taking opinions into consideration because sometimes when we don't take opinions into consideration we can make very stupid decisions and choices but above everything and above everyone what is going to make you happy and feel the most at peace. You learn whose opinions matter. You learn whose opinions are there to make you better and grow. And you learn whose don't. Freedom doesn't come from being liked by everyone. It comes from liking who you are when no one's watching. Besties, not caring about what someone else thought of me when I knew that I was doing what truly made me happy. For example, creating content and start posting what I wanted, what I liked, documenting my life, regardless of who thought it was going to be cringy or embarrassing or I wasn't going to get anywhere or it was a waste of time. Getting over that changed my life. I do not doubt that when I first started posting 6 years ago, people that I went to high school with would share my Tik Toks and would share my videos and would comment between them. What she posted was very embarrassing. What she used to post was very cringey. I wouldn't have done that or I wouldn't have posted that or how does she bring herself to do that. And I hear it every single day. Like now that social media is my full-time job and those people now that used to say things about me, see me traveling the world with my favorite brands and receive packages every single week. And the the fact that I was actually able to turn social media into my full-time job and now I have a podcast and now I have a clothing brand and I do this for a living and I literally pay my rent posting videos. I'm literally living my dream life, doing my dream job and something that truly makes me happy and makes me wake up excited every single day. So, why would I care? But people come up to me, same people that I went to high school with. Wow, congratulations. I am so proud of you. It is crazy to see how much you've grown. It is crazy to see how far you've come. And the only reason as to why they're able to change their mind. And the only reason as to why they're able to approach me differently is because I decided that their opinion wasn't going to affect the way that I saw myself and my potential, the way that I did things, and how much I truly believed in myself, and the fact that one day I was actually going to be able to turn this into my full-time job. And I've always said that you experiencing your dreams and that your success is worth more than anyone else's opinions. And I want you to adapt that mindset as well. Going back to what we talked about earlier, it doesn't mean that you're careless because that doesn't happen. It just means that you care about yourself more. Yes, they might think this is embarrassing and yes, who knows? It might be cringey for some people. Everyone has a different perspective of what's cringey and what's embarrassing and what's not. Someone might think that I'm really cool and someone might think that I'm very embarrassing and cringey. You are never going to be liked by everyone. You are never going to be accepted by everyone. And what I said on episode number one, everyone has different traumas. Everyone has different backgrounds. Everyone was raised differently because everyone was raised differently and everyone sees life in a different way. Everyone has a different opinion. And the more that you try to shrink yourself and fit inside a box so that no one and nothing and no person in this world thinks you're cringy or embarrassing, you're literally not going to have any personality. You're never going to have any plans. You're never going to have any dreams. You're going to be comfortable your whole entire life. And that for me sounds more scary than trying really hard to achieve your dreams. Trying really hard to experience what you deep down know is going to make you happy and get some negative opinions. Staying inside a box is scarier than being judged after trying and going after something that is going to make you the happiest version of yourself. And that is the message of today's episode. That is a mindset that I want you guys to adopt that has completely changed my life and that I promise you guys will change yours as well. I hope you guys liked it. I hope it was helpful. I hope that it truly changes your life and the way of seeing it because life is so much fun when you go after what you know is going to make your life so much fun. From the perfect bodies, curated diets to the huge housesers and designer closets. What we see on our screens is highly filtered version of reality. Social media is not reality. Think about your favorite platform. Instagram, Tik Tok, whichever one it is. Everything on social media is created. That influencer who just posted her casual morning routine probably took 30 photos to get that perfect picture. The couple posting relationship goals, they might have just had a fight before that picture. Social media creates an illusion of perfection because that gets engagement. People are drawn to visually appealing content and social media platforms capitalize on this. Every like, comment, or share tells the algorithm, "Give me more of this." But the truth is that what you're seeing is often staged, edited, and filtered. Sometimes to extremes. Even though we know social media is fake, our brains don't always process it that way. This is called the social comparison theory and it is the idea that we evaluate ourselves based on comparison with others. Social media supercharges this because we're not just comparing ourselves to a small circle of friends. We're comparing ourselves to influencers, celebrities, and strangers who are showing us the absolute best moments. When you see someone living what looks like a better life, your brain's reward system activates. The dopamine hit makes you want to keep scrolling. And even though it's making you feel worse, your brain's prefrontal cortex, which handles rational thought, struggles to keep up with the flood of content. It doesn't have time to remind you this isn't real life. Over time, this creates a vicious cycle. You feel inadequate. You keep scrolling to escape that feeling and the cycle repeats. One of the most toxic aspect of social media is the obsession with appearance. Fake bodies and unrealistic diets dominate our feeds. It's not just influencers. It's fitness trainers, celebrities, and even regular people chasing the aesthetic trends of the moment. Many of these body goals are unattainable without extreme measures. A lot of influencers promote unsafe diets, over-the-top workout routines, or even cosmetic procedures as they're just self-care. Constant exposure to perfect bodies activates the brain's wishial reward system reinforcing the idea of what we need to look like to feel good about ourselves. From private jets and designer wardrobes to mansions with ocean views, social media bombards us with images of wealth and success, much of it is fake. Some influencers rent luxury items for photo shoots or stage extravagant vacations to create the illusion of wealth. And even when it's real, what we don't see are the sacrifices, depths, or pressures that might lurking behind the scenes. We're wired to compare our social standing with others. And when we see someone living the life we want, it can trigger feeling inadequate or even resentment. Social media amplifies this by giving us constant access to these images, making us feel like we're falling behind 24/7. It's not just the content that's harming us, but it is the endless scrolling itself. Spending hours a day on social media rewires your brain in ways that aren't healthy. Every notification, like or share, triggers a small dopamine release. And over time, your brain becomes addicted to these micro rewards, making it harder to step away from the screen. Every post you scroll past is a decision. Do I engage? Do I compare? Do I keep scrolling? This constant mental effort wears down our ability to focus and to make clear choices. The rapid fire nature of social media, shortens your attention span. Your brain gets used to quick hits of information and struggles with deeper sustained focus. All of this adds up to a major mental health crisis. Heavy social media use increases rates of anxiety, depression, and loneliness. Because when we're constantly comparing our lives to created content, we start to feel like we're not enough. The irony is that the more time we spend on social media trying to connect, the more disconnected we feel from real life, unfollow accounts that make you feel bad about yourself. Follow creators who inspire, educate, and genuinely make you happy. Set boundaries. Limit your screen time. Try apps that track your usage or set phone free times during your day. Practice gratitude. Focus on what's real in your life. Keep a gratitude journal to remind yourself of your own blessings instead of someone else's highlights. Seek real connections. Spend more time with people that love you and offline. Real life interactions are scientifically proven to boost mood and reduce stress. Social media is a tool. It is not reality. And it can connect us, educate us, and entertain us. But it can also harm us. And if we don't use it mindfully, it can control us. Remember, the next time you're scrolling through your feed and feeling like comparison is taking over, remind yourself this isn't real. Behind every perfect picture is a story you don't see. And most of the time, that story is a lot messier than you think. Social media algorithms are designed to keep you on the platform for as long as possible because your attention equals profit. The more you scroll, the more ads you see and the more money these platforms make. To achieve this, the algorithms prioritize content that grabs your attention. Often, the most extreme, polished, or sensationalized posts. This is why fake over-the-top content thrives. It is not a coincidence that you see posts of influencers flaunting their perfect lives right after a stressful day. That platforms know this will hook you. Envir insecurity drive higher engagement than positive ones. When you feel like you're missing out or falling behind, you're more likely to keep scrolling, searching for something to make yourself feel better. Many people feel pressured to keep up with the aesthetics and luxuries they see online, leading to overspending and even that. A survey found that millennials and Gen C are more likely to make impulsive purchases based on what they see online. Whether it's a trendy outfit or a new gadget or a new expensive vacation, people often spend money changing a lifestyle they believe they should have. Some influencers make it look easy because they're being paid to promote these things. What you see as their effortless lifestyle is often a calculated marketing strategy. The more fake something is, the better it tends to perform on social media. Think about viral posts, dramatic before and after transformations, seemingly effortless success stories where spontaneous moments are actually meticulously planned. This happens because social media platforms reward engagement. If a post gets likes, shares, and comments, the algorithm boosts it, putting it in front of even more people. Authentic, unpolished content often struggles to compete because it doesn't evoke the same strong emotional reactions. The result is a feedback loop where creators feel pressured to exaggerate, filter, or autoright fabricate their content to stay relevant. At this point, you might be wondering, how do we escape this mess? One of the most powerful steps you can take is to do a social media detox. This doesn't mean deleting all your social media accounts, but it means taking intentional breaks to reconnect with yourself and your offline. Studies show that even a short break from social media can reduce feeling of stress, improve focus, and boost a real happiness. Spend more time in nature. Journaling your thoughts and feelings. Engaging in hobbies that don't involve a screen. Real success isn't about likes, followers, or curated aesthetics, but it is about living a life that feels meaningful to you. Ask yourself, what truly brings me joy? And what are my personal values? And am I living in alignment with them? How can I measure success in ways that don't rely on external validation? When you start focusing on your own path, the noise of social media starts to fade the next time you pick up your phone and start scrolling. Ask yourself, is this adding value to my life or is it stealing my peace with love? Maf besties, if you enjoyed today's episode, make sure to share with anyone that might need to listen. I'm excited to form a part of your healing journey. [music] Hey besties. I am so excited. I haven't made this intro in over a year. I lowkey forgot how to podcast. This is crazy. Wow, we have a lot to talk about. This is going to be a long episode. If you are in the car, I hope this is a long ride. If you're studying, you're about to have a really long studying session. If I'm in the background on your TV, if you're cooking, this better be a long recipe. Besties, we have a really long episode because I have a lot to tell you guys. We have a lot to catch up on. And of course, I'm going to get into today's episode. Last year, I did 24 things that I learned in 2024. And so, this year, I decided to do the first episode of 2026, 15 things that I learned in 2025. Because, again, this is already going to be a long episode. If I were to do 25 things that I learned, this episode would be 3 hours long. I want to start out by saying, besties, welcome. If you're still here, if you've been listening since 2022 when I first started this podcast, I am so grateful. Thank you so much. You guys have seen my whole journey. You guys have seen my growth. the podcast grows, the podcast pauses, the podcast changes, and I am just so grateful if you're still here and still believe on everything the podcast has to share and help you. So, thank you. If you're new to I Missed Me, also, thank you. I'm glad that you found me. I'm glad that you found this. And I promise you guys that I missed me is going to be your safe space and it is going to be a very huge big tool to help you and guide you through your healing journey. That is the goal and that is the purpose of this podcast. And yeah, I just want to start off by saying thank you for being here. Thank you for listening whether you're new or not. My name is Mafian Sures. I am your host. And again, before we get into today's episode, I owe you guys an explanation. About 3 weeks ago, I hosted the relaunch of the podcast. And even though there was episodes all throughout 2025 because I did not miss a week of episodes in 2025. I missed me did post one episode weekly for the 52 weeks of 2025. I wasn't present in the podcast at all. Those episodes were actually pre-recorded in October of 2024 because I knew that 2025 was going to be different for me. It was going to be a very busy year. I was barely going to have time to record. Having a podcast is a full-time job and doing social media is also a full-time job. And I do both and it was becoming very tiring and very exhausting. So, I had the idea to pre-record all of the episodes of 2025, hire a team, and don't have to worry about the podcast at all. And that is exactly what I did. In October, I sat down in a studio for a week straight. I would have eight, nine hour recording sessions where I would record nine, 10 episodes every single day for a week straight. And then we just edited them. We pres-scheduled them. I changed outfits 100,000 times in a studio. And I didn't have to worry about the podcast at all last year. I did this because of multiple reasons, which is the explanation that I want to give you guys as to why the podcast was so different last year and what is the podcast going to be this year and how my mindset has changed and how this podcast has evolved and how I've evolved. I started this podcast in 2022. I was 18 when I started this podcast. And for me, that is crazy to think because I'm 22 now and 18 is a baby. I was a baby when I started this podcast and I was a baby when this podcast started doing really good and started growing very fast. 2022 started I missed me. 2023 was the peak of I missed me. And again, if you've been following the journey, you know that I missed me in 2023. It wasn't every single chart. It was number one in Canada, number one in Australia, number one in UK. And back then, the podcast was my full-time job. It was my only source of income. I was podcasting for a living. And even though it was the greatest year career-wise and for the podcast, it was probably one of the worst years of my life emotionally. I was very drained. I went to college and I've told you guys this story before. I went to college for a semester. I realized that college was not for me. I do think that college can be amazing for some people. I was just not the case. I didn't have a good college experience, especially because when I moved to college, the podcast was doing really good and I felt so much pressure having to keep up with both my homework and my classes and be extremely present in college because I felt guilty that my parents were paying for it. But at the same time, I had an amazing opportunity where I was being invited to Spotify to record with amazing guests and I was in every single chart and I had to record a weekly episode so that my sponsors kept coming in and it was just like a really tough mental battle that I was going through at 19 of wanting to keep my project alive and doing good and at the same time didn't want to let my parents and the people around me that loved me and that wanted to see me succeed down. But ultimately, I had to choose myself and ultimately I had to choose what made me happy. So, I ended up choosing the podcast, going social media full-time, dropped out of college, moved back to my parents house. This was in 2023. And in 2024, I went all in on the podcast. I started traveling to LA. I started traveling to New York. I would book studios for like 3 days and I would again change outfits and record like eight episodes a day and I was thriving and the podcast was doing amazing. And on the personal side of things, like my personal social media, I felt very disconnected from who I wanted to be versus what I was posting. Okay, I was posting motivational self-growth content on my podcast weekly and I was helping so many people and all of the episodes were doing good and I was in a lot of charts and then on the personal side of things like my personal brand Mafian is like Mafian is on Tik Tok, Mafian is on Instagram like my personal side of things I was posting very like relatable videos wanting to go viral and chasing views and chasing numbers but that wasn't the content that I was passionate about creating. like it wasn't content that number one was adding value and number two that I felt passionate about recording. I just felt like I had to post because I had to post. And so again, I was just posting like silly little 7-second videos that did get millions of views, did go very viral, but weren't fulfilling me and weren't making me feel like I was actually like giving back to the world or adding any value or like educating people in any way. When on my podcast, I was doing the complete opposite. I was healing and I was helping and I was educating and I felt very disconnected from Maf the podcast host and Maf the personal brand if that makes any sense and like I just don't know how to explain it because yes it's still me but I have different projects and they're very different things and so I felt a very big disconnection and when I drop out of college I move back home I have a meeting with my manager at the time and I'm like I don't know what to do because I feel very disconnected like I feel like my content is all over the place I am a podcast host on one side giving amazing advice and I am a wannabe influencer on the other side. I wasn't working with brands. I wasn't really monetizing my personal side of things. I wasn't growing at all. Point is, I just felt unfulfilled and disconnected. And he was like, "Why don't you start giving advice on your personal social media as well?" Like, you do so good on your podcast and you give such amazing advice that I feel like if you really want to give back and educate people and like heal people on every single one of your platforms, you should start talking to the camera and giving advice in a more personal way. like why don't you get ready, give advice and on the podcast side it's a little bit more professional where you're in a studio you're you have a microphone and again on your personal side it's a little bit like more personal getting ready or just like giving advice in the car or whatever I was like wow that is such an amazing idea so that is exactly what I started doing in 2024 all 2024 was that and again if you've been following my journey you guys have seen like change of content and the change my platforms have had because they've been a couple and they've been big but I decided to ultimately merge both mafia's podcast host, self-development, healing content. I was only talking about that. Every single one of my platforms was self-development, healing, becoming better, getting closer to yourself. And so, again, on my personal side of things, and on my personal platforms, I was recording a lot of get ready with me while we talk about heartbreak. This is how you are going to find closure. And I was just getting ready, giving advice. I was posting like three videos a day, giving advice in my car, giving advice in my room, giving advice while I got ready, and then again posting weekly episodes on the podcast. besties. I was exhausted. I was exhausted. I was very tired of number one, talking about the same things over and over and over again every single day. Number two, not leaving my house because again, I dropped out of college. All of my friends were in college. All of my friends were working. I was in my room 24/7. And if I wasn't recording, I was editing. And if I wasn't editing, I was recording. And if I wasn't recording, I was recording a podcast episode. And if I wasn't recording a podcast episode, I was editing a podcast episode. And my life just became content. My life became recording, editing, going to sleep in my room 24/7. And I hit rock bottom emotionally, mentally. I was just so exhausted. I hit rock bottom. It became such a routine that I didn't want to do, which is really sad because content creation is a dream. Like a lot of people dream with creating content and doing that for a living. And I felt very guilty that I wasn't feeling as grateful as I was supposed to be because of how tired I was feeling. And so that was my 2024. And because I was feeling so tired by the end of 2024, I decide to hire an agency called Find the Click. And Find the Click is the agency that organized the relaunch for my podcast. And I love those girls. They have literally saved I miss life. And the reason as to why I miss Me still a thing is because of them. And I'll give you guys a little bit of context, but I find them, I tell them I need help. And Issa, which is my current podcast editor, decides to take over. We sit down and I'm like, I don't want to be doing this in 2025. like my routine has to change, my life has to change. I am way too tired and way too exhausted. I need to have time for myself. And so that is where I decided to pre-record all of I miss episodes for 2025. I'm like, it's going to be a very busy and tiring and exhausting week. But I prefer to have a week that is really hard and really exhausting than to have another whole year that is really tiring and really exhausting. I was burnt out. I was exhausted. I was tired. If you guys go see the videos of the podcast last year where I was recording in a studio, I look so tired and so exhausted and you can literally hear in my voice. And at the time I was also going through changes in my relationship. And so I was going through a really hard time emotionally where I would drive from my house an hour and a half to studio crying. I would get to the parking lot wipe my tears, go into an 8 hour recording session, do eight podcast episodes, get in my car, start crying again. It was it was tough. It was a really tough period in my life where I was figuring it out. It wasn't a hard year. 2024 was a really good year that taught me that the process and the journey is extremely important and it is a huge part of the process to be able to look back and feel proud of yourself. But it was that it was a process and it was a journey. And in January, I remember this perfectly in January of 2025 last year, I sat down with myself in my room and I'm like, I cannot repeat 2024 ever again. I cannot repeat it ever again. I cannot feel that level of exhaustion. And I cannot feel that level of unmotivation ever again. I'm supposed to feel excited about everything that I do. I'm supposed to feel motivated. I'm supposed to feel proud of doing everything that I'm doing. I cannot go through this ever again. What am I going to do differently? And at the same time, I was feeling very frustrated because like I said, all of my content was healing. All of my content was self-development. All of my content was motivation. And as much as I love talking about this, which is ultimately why I came back, and we'll get into that. As much as I enjoy talking about growth, self-development, healing, heartbreak, and all of those things that make us grow, I enjoy doing a lot of different things. I enjoy documenting my life. I enjoy creating content. I enjoy making videos, getting dressed, doing my makeup, going to events, traveling. Like, all those things I am also very passionate about. And I niched down so much that the problem wasn't content creation. And the problem wasn't making videos that was making me so tired and so exhausted. The problem was that I wasn't entirely doing everything that made me happy. And I had so much builtup frustration of what I wanted to do versus what I was actually doing. I felt very frustrated with myself. And I felt very frustrated with life of like I want to do this and I want it to perform well. But when I don't talk about self-rowth and when I don't talk about motivation, nobody watches it and it doesn't perform well and it puts me in a really like mental hole. I was battling myself really hard. And so I sat with myself in my room and I was like, you know what? because I'm not repeating another year of feeling exhausted and tired when it's supposed to be something that I feel passionate about and love. I am going to do what makes me happy. Period. Like, I am going to do what makes me happy. I am going to edit the way that I want to edit. I'm going to record the way that I want to record. I'm going to document and post whatever it is that I want to post. I am going to do what makes me happy regardless of the results and regardless of how it performs. The podcast is taken care of. I hired someone to edit. They're going to take care of the podcast and me, myself, and I am going to do what makes me happy. I am going to post whatever makes me happy. I am going to record whatever makes me happy. If I want to record an outfit, a makeup, getting dressed, if I want to record a coffee run, like whatever I want to do, I'm going to do it regardless of the results. And I am not going to care whether people watch it or not because I am determined to be happy doing what I love. And when I decided that the universe moved around me and God moved around me and I truly do feel like God was like finally you care about what matters which is you. Finally you leave aside what the ego wants which is numbers and attention and doing everything all at once and you choose you and you choose what makes you happy. And ironically 2025 ended up being the best year of my life. the best year of my life in every single aspect. Career-wise, relationship-wise, emotionally wise, spiritual wise, it was an amazing year in every single aspect. And it was because ultimately, regardless of what happened, I chose myself. I chose myself in a lot of different ways that I will continue to share all throughout this podcast this year. I learned what it is to finally choose yourself. I learned how you choose yourself. And I learned the importance of choosing yourself and choosing what makes you happy, which is ultimately what will bring you peace, fulfillment, and satisfaction. And so that was in January. I decide that I'm going to completely start over because I was so frustrated and I was so exhausted. Decided to completely start over. And I archived every single video that I had posted for the past 6 years. I started posting videos back in like 2019 when I was in high school. I decided to archive it all. I archive everything. And that is why if you were to like to stock or find like the motivational videos that I used to post in 2024, you can't really find them. Not because I didn't feel proud of them, but because I really wanted to start over and start from scratch. So, I archived everything and I decided to start over. And in April of 2025, I post a video called the ultimate influencer boot camp. If you guys come here from my personal social media, you guys know about that episode and that boot camp, which did insanely good. It did amazing. And it was ultimately a series that I started with the purpose of teaching people how to grow on social media the way that I have grown on social media and like teaching people tips and tricks and the things that I think that have made me grow and find my niche and find what makes me happy and passionate ultimately build a platform throughout all of the years that I've been doing social media. It did really good and that motivated me a lot especially because I took that as a sign of wow I don't only have to talk about motivation and self-rowth for people to listen to me. I just have to give value back however that is whether it's entertainment or education or self-growth or motivation. I have to give value back. That is what I'm passionate about. I'm not just passionate about healing or self-growth. I'm passionate about creating with value. And that is what I did all throughout 2025. I had amazing opportunities. I worked with amazing brands. I went on amazing trips. I traveled all over the world. I spent time with my family. I moved out by myself, which is another episode that I have to update you guys on and share my lessons. But I found time for the people that I love. I found time for myself. I found time for my passions. And I've also realized that my worth is not tied to one single thing or to numbers or to results, but my worth is tied to how much am I willing to believe in myself. So 2025 on the personal side of things was amazing. However, and because I am only one person and because even though it was an amazing year, I was also very exhausted and I can't do multiple things at the same time and I need a team and I need people to help me to get to where I want to be. Because I didn't have that and because I am only one person and can only be in one place at a time and I was so focused on my growth on the personal side of things and everything that I had to do. I paused. I missed me for a little for two main reasons. Number one, I have changed a lot. I have grown a lot. My life has changed a lot and I started this podcast going through a breakup and talking about heartbreak and I am now in an almost two-year relationship that is very healthy. That has also taught me so incredibly much. But the lessons are different and what I've learned is different. And same thing with everything in my life. My career now looks different. My relationships now look different. My state of living now looks different. I live by myself now. Like I'm a completely different person from when I started this podcast. And I needed last year to learn different things, to grow into a different person so that I could come back into the podcast and share brand new completely different things because not only have I grown, everyone that has been listening to the podcast for these past few years has also grown. You are not the same person that you were when you first started listening to this podcast. So I needed last year to grow. And number two, I also needed last year to realize that I missed me is something that I still want to continue to do because again, I was very exhausted and very tired that I even questioned myself as to whether the podcast was something that I wanted to continue to do or not. And even though it was a really heartbreaking thought, I did consider stopping the podcast and being like, I am way too busy on the personal side of things. Hopefully, and if God wants me to, I will continue to grow and like when am I going to find time to record episodes? When am I going to find time to make this project a beautiful one? Because if you've been following my journey, I've had a clothing brand, I've had this podcast, I've had multiple different projects and I don't like putting things out if they are not good quality things and good quality projects. I've always tried to keep this podcast the highest of qualities because that's just me and that's and that's how I like doing things. And I asked myself, if I'm not willing to give my 100% to the podcast and if this podcast is not going to be quality that I want it to be, is it even worth it to keep going or to continue to do it? And then I went in the portal one day cuz I got a payment for like a brand and I had to send it to my bank and I saw the analytics and I saw the amount of people that follow the podcast still and the amount of people that have listened to the podcast like past 4 years and it's over 6 million people. 6 million people is a lot of people. A lot of people. And I sat with myself and I reflected and I saw that number because I hadn't really checked it in months and I was like there is no way that I stop a project that has helped so many people. People find time and I truly believe this. people finding time for what they want to have time for and I want to have time for this. I miss me is not only a project that has helped millions heal but it is a project where I have healed so much and it makes me get emotional and it it does make me a little bit emotional because it is a project and it is a platform that has helped me grow so much personally. It is a space where I completely disconnect for the two hours that I'm recording because you guys listen to a 25-minute episode, but I mess up a lot and I cut a lot of parts out and I completely disconnect and I leave my phone. Do not disturb. I don't check my social media. I completely log in and reflect on the things that I've learned and it has helped me heal so much. And so I realized that it is not the podcast that I have to stop and it is not the podcast that I have to change or rearrange. It is my time and it is how I choose to handle things this year which was a very big issue last year where I felt like I wanted to do everything all at once and I ultimately realize that again I can't be everywhere all the time and I need to pick and choose what I want to do where I want to go because my time and energy are very sacred. I choose will continue to choose every single week that I sit down and record that I missed me is sacred for me. That this podcast deserves my energy and my time so that every single person that listens to it receives a good highquality episode that helps them heal and that helps me heal. With that intro being said, I hope that I answered all of you guys' questions. Last year did look different for ISM Me because I knew that I wasn't going to have time. I decided to record shorter, smaller audios that were intended to be listened to over and over and over again. A lot of people commented, "Is it scripted? Were they read? Were you reading it mostly on YouTube?" Yes, they were scripted. I wrote every single script myself because I was going to be at a studio. The time of the studio was limited. I mess up a lot. So, I needed to be reading something so that I didn't mess up as much. So, yes, last year's episodes were read. They were supposed to be read because they were supposed to be a script. They were supposed to be a short motivational script with music in the background so that if you're working out or if you're just waking up or if you're having a hard time, a heart, a heart night, you could play it, feel better, repeat it, play it over and over and over again until you feel better. That was the purpose of last year's episodes. They were very short. They were very intentional. They were very motivational. This year we're back and I built, if you guys follow me on my personal social media, mafia, I posted a series transforming this room and making it my dream podcast room. So, I moved to an apartment in Miami has two rooms, two bathrooms, and one of the rooms I decided to turn it into a podcast studio, which is where you guys will be seeing me from now on. These episodes will be posted on I miss YouTube, as well as I miss Spotify every single week. Every single Monday, I will be with you guys from now on. And with all of that being said, let's get started with today's episode. 15 things that I learned in 2025. I think one of the biggest takeaways from last year is the fact that I had been going through different heartbreaking periods in my life before 2025 breakups, friendship breakups, unmotivation, exhaustion, feeling lost, not knowing what to do. And it is very easy to go through something and then come out of it and be like, "Yes, I had to go through that because that was teaching me that and that was teaching me that and yes, the pain served this purpose and yes, I went through a hard thing because of this, this, and that." And when you heal, you look back and you end up realizing that you went through a hard period of time to learn something. Our problem is that we only grow and we only choose to learn when we go through heartbreaking periods of our life. when we're doing good and when we're thriving and when life is good, we don't really stop and think to ourselves, this is something that I have to work on. This is something that I have to learn. Yes, life is good, but I am still not perfect and I can continue to become a better person every single day. We don't do that. And I truly do believe that. That is why God, my relationship with God, by the way, grew so much in 2025. And I will talk about how and where I stand spiritually on a future episode. But one thing that I learned is that I truly believe that God puts us through hard times to get closer to him because when we're thriving and we're doing good, we don't. We just enjoy and we just take advantage of being happy because it doesn't happen quote unquote often and we just make sure to take every single opportunity that is presented in front of us. And again, we enjoy and we thrive and we have fun. However, to learn and to grow and to be better, we wait until we're going through heartbreak. We wait until life defeats us and we have to get up and be like, "Ah, maybe I do have to learn this. Maybe I do have to reflect on this. Maybe to get over this pain, I do have to go through this, this, and that." And the way that you're going to hack life into, I don't want to say never going through heartbreak or heartbreaking things ever again because that's not how it works. It is inevitable. But the way to hack life into feeling good all the time or almost all the time is to constantly work on being better regardless of how good you are doing. And this doesn't mean constantly being hard on yourself because you're not perfect yet or I should be doing this better, this this this this better. No, that's not what I mean. But what I mean is that when you're happy and when you're thriving and when life is good, you should take the biggest pause and the biggest reflection first of gratitude and appreciating the fact that life is good and appreciating the fact that you're receiving anything that it is that you're receiving. But number two, how can I continue to push myself to be better and am I truly happy or am I just comfortable? and answer yourself honestly and answer yourself with a lot of love and compassion and grace also again a lot of honesty am I truly happy or am I just comfortable is there something that I could be doing right now that I am choosing not to do because I am already happy I am already good so there's no reason as to why I should push myself to do a hard thing or there's no reason as to why I should push myself to start something new or there is no reason as to why I should push myself to put myself in an uncomfortable situation I am already doing good and that is not how growth happens. Growth doesn't happen when you feel comfortable. Growth happens when even when you're comfortable, you make the decision to push yourself to be in an uncomfortable situation because you know that is going to make you better. And so again, besties, I do have a list of 15 things that I learned in the best year of my life that were still lessons that I did have to learn. Last year was not perfect at all. I cried so much. I went through also periods of feeling very tired, questioning myself, doubting myself, comparing myself, letting people go, going through friendship breakups. Like it was an amazing year, but not just because of what happened, but also because of everything that I learned. Number one, one of the biggest lessons that I learned is that no one is going to do it for you. Whatever it is, in whatever word you choose to put in that sentence, no one is going to go to the gym for you. No one is going to start that project for you. No one is going to post for you if you want to start on social media. No one is going to do that job interview for you. No one is going to do it for you. If you want to grow, if you want to succeed, and if you want to put yourself in that experience or if you want to be that future version of yourself that you dream about becoming, you have to stand up and put yourself in situations that will get you where you want to go. You want to build muscle and become stronger, you have to start going to the gym. You want to work with brands and you want to receive PR packages, you have to start posting. You want your dream job and you want to work traveling the world or in this office or in this place. You have to do that job interview. No one is going to do it for you. Take ownership of your life. Take ownership of the experiences that you want to go through and the opportunities that you want to experience and ultimately decide that because you want to get there, you are going to stand up and put in the work. Number two, your success is worth more than any opinion. Listen to me carefully, besties, because this is one of the biggest mistakes and one of the biggest things that sets people back. Opinions. What are they going to think about me? Are they going to think I'm embarrassing? Are they going to think I'm cringey? Are they going to judge me for doing this? Your success and whatever you're going to experience if you get over that fear is worth more. I promise you guys, it is worth more any opinion. Number three, it only has to make sense to you. This one is also a huge one. And listen to me carefully when I tell you that whatever it is that you know is going to make you happy, whatever it is that you know that is going to bring you peace and whatever it is that you and your gut is telling you that will make you the happiest, most joyful version of yourself, but other people don't necessarily understand it or agree with you. It is your life. They have their own individual lives and they are judging you based on their personal experiences which doesn't mean that will be your reality. A lot of times we let ourselves be influenced by our family or our friends or our mentors or the people around us that want our highest good and want to see us thriving and want to see us do good. But the truth is that their opinions come from their personal experiences and their personal upbringing and they are judging you based on the things that they have gone through which doesn't mean that are the same things that you are going to go through. So listen to your gut and listen to your instincts and listen to that part of yourself that knows that whatever it is that you're about to do will make you the happiest version of yourself because it only has to make sense to you. Number four, your energy and your time are the most valuable things that you have. They are the only things that don't come back. Your time doesn't come back and your energy should not be wasted. Therefore, protect them. Please protect your energy and please protect your time. If you think that it's not worth your time, it's not. And if you think that it's not worth your energy, it's not. There is nothing that should make you compromise either your time or your energy. There is nothing or no one, I promise you besties, that is worth keeping in your life that is making you feel drained, tired, exhausted, if after hanging out with someone you feel tired, if after hanging out with someone you question their relationship, if after hanging out with someone you feel drained and you feel like you're not supposed to be there and you truly feel like that those are not your people, but you don't know how to let go, please listen to me. Your energy and your time will forever be more valuable than anything or anyone. Everyone and everything that you choose to keep in your life should feel aligned. And if they don't, they're just simply not for you. It does not have to mean that they're bad people. It does not have to mean that they're bad things or bad situations or bad relationships. It just means that they're not for you. And that is okay. Not everything and not everyone is supposed to be. Number five, and this one I learned it the hard way, but please make time for yourself. Make time for yourself before you hit a burnout state. Make time for yourself before you hit rock bottom and God forces you to make time for yourself. Make time for yourself before you don't only feel it emotionally or spiritually, but before you start feeling it physically. Make time for yourself to think. Make time for yourself to reflect. Make time for yourself to just be yourself. If you don't make time for yourself, you don't have time to be grateful. You don't have time to reflect. You don't have time to meditate and recharge. And by making time for yourself, I don't mean completely isolating yourself and wanting to be entirely alone. I just mean to stop rushing so much, to be everywhere, and to do everything, and to disconnect and pause, even if it's 10 minutes a day, but to rest, to give your mind a rest, to give yourself a physical rest because it's needed. Like resting is not a reward. Resting is not something that you have to earn. Resting is something that's necessary for your body to function. Understand that and honor that. Number six, don't be afraid. And this is very connected to number four and three, but don't be afraid to remove people from your life if they don't align. Do not be [clears throat] afraid. Do not be shy. I did it a lot in 2025. And 2025 was the year where I had zero tolerance when it came to feeling misaligned with certain relationships. You are not for everyone and you have to make peace with that. And the more that you try to be for everyone, the less that you're going to be for anyone. Like that is the biggest thing that I learned. Not everyone is going to like you. You're not going to like everyone. That is natural and that's okay. And it's supposed to be like that because we all have different personalities. There are people that you're going to meet and you're going to completely and immediately click. There's people that you're going to meet and your body is going to physically repel them. Like it happened to me a lot in 2025 where I would spend time with some people that I'm like, "Oh, they're nice. Some of our values aligned." But I felt so exhausted when we were together and I felt so drained and I would subconsciously and like even consciously know that I wasn't supposed to be there and like those were just not my people. And that's okay. You should not feel guilty for not liking someone. You should not feel guilty for setting boundaries. You should not feel guilty for telling someone, you know what, your mindset doesn't completely align with the way that I think and the way that I see life and your personality doesn't completely align with my personality and I think that it would just be better to part ways. Like not because you're a bad person, not because I'm a bad person, we just don't align. And that's completely okay. You have your people and you will find your group of friends and I have my people and I will find my group of friends. That is okay. Like that is so normal. Don't feel guilty about it. and also understand that it's necessary. Number seven, also a huge one that I want you to take throughout not only your year, but you throughout your entire life. Comparison is a thief of joy. And the more that you compare yourself to what someone else has, the more that you're taking energy and space and time in your mind to focus on something that you can be doing right now to reach what they have, not in a competition way, but in a way where if you see someone that is experiencing what you want to experience instead of seeing them as competition or comparison or I that I had that and I feel like I'm a loser because I don't have that. No, you have the time, you have the resources, you have the tools, and you have the abilities to be where that person is. The only difference between that person and you is that that person put in the work and you are putting in your time to see their work. When in reality, you can see them as inspiration. Take your time and your energy to focus on getting to where they are. That is the truth. Instead of wasting your time wishing you were someone else, work on yourself to experience what you are personally meant to experience. Number eight, huge one as well. I am going to make a completely separate episode about this one to go more in depth to explain what I actually mean. But the more that you give, the more that you receive. And this is so true. I understood that if you create into the world, like whatever it is that you choose to do, if you start a project, if you start a business, if you act in a way that is selfish to you, yourself, and your ego, life will slap you in the face. The more that you give, the more that you do to help the community, the more that you do to help the people around you, the more that you do to let people know that they're not alone, and the more that you teach the gifts that you were brought into this world with, the more that you will continue to receive, to keep spreading those gifts. And I realized that last year a lot. My favorite Bible verse, Matthew 25:29, says to whoever has more, even more will be given to them. And to whoever has none, even what they have will be taken away. I read that Bible verse very, very young. And I understood that the more that you give, more that you have and you give without being selfish, without gatekeeping, without wanting everything for yourself to enjoy it for yourself and for your ego to feel more important and above. The more that you share and the more that you truly genuinely want people to grow with you, the more that you will continue to receive. To whoever has none, to whoever has no selflessness, to whoever has no willing to give back, to whoever has no intention of doing good and only receiving for them and to again feed their ego. Even what they have will be taken away. And if you receive things from a place of wanting to feel superior, I promise you, you will lose it. And if you don't lose it, you will continue to want more. And that is already losing peace which is not worth it. Spread love and you will receive love. Spread knowledge and you will receive more knowledge. Spread gratitude and you will receive more reasons as to why you should be grateful. That is just how life works. Very important lesson that you should start applying in your life. Number nine, your boundaries only have to make sense to you. And boundaries are the greatest form of self-respect. Your boundaries, the things that you're willing to tolerate, things that you're not willing to tolerate, they have to make sense to you and only you. And the people that love you truly want you in their life and truly want to be in your life will respect them and will understand them. And whoever doesn't understand them and whoever decides to cross them is not worth being in your life. You respect yourself through how much you respect the boundaries that you establish. You establish a boundary. You let someone cross it and you're okay with them crossing it. You're disrespecting yourself. Your boundaries are the biggest form of selfrespect. Establish them. Respect them. Someone wants to be in your life. And if someone loves you, they will respect them as well. And if they don't, I promise you besties, it is so much better to be alone and be respecting your own boundaries and your own self than to have to continue to keep up with people that continuously disrespect you. And through you allowing disrespect, disrespecting yourself. Number 10, working on yourself should be your greatest goal. And this is one that I also think it's important to listen to at the beginning, especially at the beginning of the year, because I feel like when we all do our vision boards and when we write down our goals and our achievements for the brand new year, it's become a very popular tradition, especially I've been seeing it around social media to like do your vision boards, which I find amazing. I'm all about doing vision boards. But a lot of the things that I see on people's vision boards are very much achievements and I want to get this or I want to go here or I want to do this this and that and I want to work with this brand or I want to go on this trip or I want this dream job or I want this dream body and it's just like materialistic materialistic achievements achievements goals goals goals this job this thing this amount of money this this and that. But I think that we should all start setting more personal goals and more emotional goals so that not only do we grow career-wise and success-wise and get to experience physical things in the physical world, but also number one, spiritually we should have more spiritual goals. Get closer to God. Whatever it is that you believe in. Closer to meditating, get closer to prayer. Get closer to the Bible. Get closer to the world. Get closer. And again, whatever it is that you believe in, I'm just talking from like my personal experiences, but get closer to something spiritually. Get closer to God spiritually. I don't see that in vision boards. Number two, growing emotionally. I don't see a lot of people putting emotional maturity on their vision boards. And it is something that I think we should all work on because I think that if we all worked on it, we would build better relationships with each other. Not taking everything so personally. Understanding that everyone has a different background and everyone is going through different things. Not judging people so fast. Not being so mean to one another. Have more empathy. Be more selfless. I don't see that in vision boards. Working on yourself should be your greatest goal and achievement. Your biggest achievements on your vision board should be personal, emotional, and spiritual in my opinion. Number 11. Peace is more valuable than being liked. Kind of connects main points, but your peace is way more valuable than being liked by everyone. Keeping your peace, maintaining your sanity, not being around people that are only looking to compete with you, that are praying on your downfall, that are constantly comparing themselves to you, that are quote unquote supporting you, but you know that are low-key praying you don't do as well. and your gut knows and your energy knows and you subconsciously know who's in your life for the right reasons and with the right intentions. Being at peace with everything and everyone in your life, knowing that every single person that you're keeping and every single relationship that you continue to build is there in your life to make you better and to make you stronger and to make you wiser and not to continuously compete with you. Your piece is more valuable than being liked. I promise you guys. Number 12, not every thought deserves your attention. Our mind plays tricks on us very often and they're not always good games. Our mind can be a very beautiful and creative place, but it can also be a very dangerous and destructive one if you don't know how to take care of it. And and our thoughts we can't always control. And that is just the truth. It is a lie that you can control every single thought. What you can control is the thoughts that you attach to and the thoughts that you give attention to. A negative thought is normal. Maybe you're driving in the car and you have a negative thought about yourself. I'm not enough. I'm not worthy. I could look like this or I could be like this or nobody likes me. It is your responsibility and you are under the control to be like, you know what? This thought is trauma. This thought is not true. This thought is my brain trying to fall back into toxic negative patterns and I'm not going to let it because I am better. I am confident. I love myself. Or you can also choose to hold on to that thought, give it attention, and be like, "Yes, everyone hates me. No one likes me. I am the worst. I am not worthy. This person is going to leave me." It is your responsibility and you are under the control of deciding what thought you give attention to. So understand that not every thought deserves your attention. Number 13. There is no such thing as being too much. There is no such thing as being yourself and being too much for this world. There is no such thing. It literally sounds ridiculous to even say out loud, "Oh, I I am just too much." What do you mean? What do you mean that's literally who you are? What do you mean you're too much? If you feel like you're too much, or if the people around you are making you feel like you are too much, or maybe you can't be yourself because you're going to be overwhelming, you're just in the wrong room. You are just in a smaller room than the one that you deserve to be in. And there are huge bigger rooms for you waiting for you to leave that small ass room and walk into a bigger one where they're not only going to accept you, but celebrate you for who you are. So, if you feel like you're too much and if your environment is making you feel like you are too much and trying to make you be smaller or control what you say or your personality because you're afraid of being judged, you're in the wrong room. You're around the wrong people and you should be able to be your full self with every single person that you choose to be around. Number 14, growth requires self honesty and extremely important as well. You can choose to lie to everyone around you. You can choose to lie to your parents, to your siblings, to your friends, to your mentors, to your teachers. You can choose to lie to every single person that wants to help you. But if you lie to yourself, there is no way of growing. There is no way of growing if you're not honest with yourself. What am I actually feeling? What do I actually align with? Is this truly what I think is the right thing for me? Am I doing the right thing? Am I in the right place? Am I with the right person? If you're not honest with yourself, you will forever stay somewhere where you subconsciously know you're not supposed to be in. And number 15, last but not least, to close off today's episode and finish up our list. You attract who you are. I've said it these past four years. I mean it more than ever and I stand by it more and more every day. You attract who you are. If you want nice things, be a nice person. Think nice thoughts. Spread positivity. Spread goodness. Have good intentions. If you want healthy relationships, have a healthy relationship with yourself. Have a healthy relationship with your mind. Have a healthy relationship with your body. Have a healthy relationship spiritually. And that is a way of hacking life. Ask yourself, what do I want? And give it to yourself. And by consequence, you will attract it. That's literally how it works. What do you want? I want to grow on social media. Start by posting like you're already a successful creator. I want a healthy relationship. Start by dating yourself and treating yourself like the most important person in your life. Just like you want to meet someone that treats you like the most important person in their life. I want healthy friendships. Be a good person to yourself. Be a good, healthy friend to yourself. Talk to yourself in a nice way. Don't call yourself a loser. Don't speak bad. Don't speak negatively and don't speak poorly to yourself. I want a good healthy body. Go to the gym and eat well. Exercise. Treat yourself like you actually want a healthy body. Your body is a temple. Take care of it. You attract who you are, not what you want. If you want nice things, be nice to yourself. I'm so excited and I'm so happy that I'm back. You guys have no idea. Like, this is going to be so healthy for me. This is going to be so so so so good for me personally. I enjoy doing this so much. I don't care about the results. I don't care if no one listens and I don't care if people don't come back to listen because they have found better podcasts. I don't care. I don't care about the results. I don't care about the numbers. It makes me happy and I enjoy it a lot. I'm very passionate about sharing things I've learned. Today we're talking about something that I think every single one of us has had to face at some point. How to actually get over someone. And I don't mean pretending you're over them while secretly stalking their stories or rereading their text at 2 a.m. I mean actually moving on emotionally, mentally, spiritually. And I know it's easier said than done. We all tell ourselves, "I'm fine. I'm over it." Until something random, a smell, a song on TikTok, a quote that hits too close reminds us that maybe we're not. So, let's talk about what really getting over someone looks like because it's not pretty, but it's worth it. Let's talk about the illusion of moving on. Getting over someone doesn't happen overnight, and it's not a straight line. It's messy. It's confusing. And sometimes it feels like you're taking 10 steps forward and 11 back. You'll have days where you generally feel free, like you've let go. And then you'll have days where you're crying in your car, convincing yourself that maybe the universe made a mistake. That's okay. Healing doesn't look perfect. It looks human. The biggest mistake we make is trying to perform. Moving on. We post the stories. We flirt with the new people. We go out with friends. Not because we're ready, but because we're trying to convince ourselves we are. But pretending you're fine is like putting a band-aid on a wound that still needs stitches. It might look healed from the outside, but inside it's still bleeding. You don't need to prove to anyone that you're over it. You just need to be honest with yourself that you're not yet. And that's where real healing begins. When you stop performing and start processing. Now, I want you to understand that you're not missing them. You're missing the idea. This one's tough because most of the time, we're not actually missing them. We're missing the idea of them. The version we created in our head. We miss the moments that feel like love, the comfort of the routine, the fantasy of who you thought they could become. But if we're honest, a lot of that wasn't real. You're probably missing how you felt around them. The excitement, the validation, the comfort. But missing a feeling isn't the same as missing a person. When you step back and look at the full picture, not the highlights, but the whole story, you start to see the cracks you once ignored. The parts of you that dim to make them comfortable, the boundaries you softened to keep the peace. Our brain romanticizes what's gone because pain wants to make sense of itself. But nostalgia is a liar. Sometimes it edits out the bad parts and only replace the good. So next time you catch yourself saying, "I miss them." Remind yourself that what you probably miss is who you were when you didn't know better. And that version of you deserves grace, not judgment. Please stop checking what they're doing. All right, this one's going to hurt a little, but you can't heal from something you keep reopening. Stop checking their stories. Stop rereading old messages. Stop stalking who they follow because every time you do, you're picking at a scrap that's trying to close and you're convincing yourself you're still part of their story when you're not. I know the urge. You just want to check just one look. But healing requires discipline. You can't detox from something you keep consuming. Think of it like an addiction. You don't ease of an addiction. You go cold turkey. Mute them, block them, unfollow if you have to. Not because you hate them, but because your peace deserves protection. Every time you choose to not look, you're choosing you. And that's the beginning of freedom. One of the most important steps is to feel the pain. Don't avoid it. Healing is uncomfortable. And that's why most people avoid it. We distract ourselves with work, with new people, with noise, anything that keeps us from sitting alone with the ache. But the truth is, the only way out is through. You can't heal what you refuse to feel. Cry, scream, journal, talk to your friends, let yourself greet what could have been. Because heartbreak is grief. It's the death of a version of yourself. It's the death of a version of your life you thought you'd had. And grief isn't weakness. It's proof that you cared. So, stop rushing your sadness away. Stop trying to positive vive your way out of your real emotions. Healing isn't about avoiding pain, but it is about surviving it until it transforms you. and it will transform you one day. The same pain that keeps breaking you will be the reason someone else feels understood when you share your story. Now rewrite the story. Eventually the pain softens. You'll catch yourself smiling again, laughing, living, and that's when you start realizing maybe it was never about losing them, but it was about finding you. You'll remember who you were before them. and you will start rebuilding the version of yourself that you abandoned to fit inside their world. That's what heartbreak does. It gives you the chance to start over intentionally to decide who you are without their influence, [music] without their validation. When you stop asking, why did this happen to me? And start asking what is this teaching me? That's when you reclaim your power. Because heartbreak doesn't ruin you. It reveals you. It shows you what you value, what you need, what you'll never settle for again. And so maybe getting over someone isn't about forgetting them. Maybe it's about out growing them. Maybe they were never meant to stay. Maybe they were just meant to show you who you could become once they left. Focus on rebuilding your life. Now that the emotional dust has started to settle, it's time to rebuild. Not by distraction, but by rediscovery. Start doing things that make you feel alive again. Redecorate your space. Change your playlist. Take yourself on dates. Say yes to new experiences. Fill your life with things that remind you of your own energy, your laughter, your independence, your goals. Because when we lose someone, our world feels smaller. But that's the thing. It's not smaller. It's just waiting for you to feel it again. Rebuilding your life is an act of self- loveve. And when you start doing that, you'll realize you were never incomplete. You just forgot who you were for a little while. The goal isn't to erase the past. is to rebuild a future that feels full without needing anyone else to complete it. Now, very hard, but very necessary. Let go with love. Letting go doesn't always mean cutting someone off with hate or anger, but it means accepting that some stories don't need a sequel. You can honor what you had without wanting it back. You can be grateful for what it taught you, even if it ended badly. Closure doesn't always come in a conversation. Sometimes it's just a quiet decision you make inside yourself. A moment where you choose peace over chaos and softness over bitterness. Letting go with love doesn't mean you're weak. It means you're strong enough to forgive. Not for them, but for yourself. Because peace is expensive and you can't afford to waste it on resentment. So, how does healing actually look like? Healing doesn't look like indifference. It looks like acceptance. It's not about pretending you don't care. It's not about acting unbothered, but it is about getting to a place where you can finally breathe again without feeling heavy. It's not about forgetting their birthday or pretending the memories never existed, but it is about being able to remember without spiraling. It's about being able to say that was a part of my life, but it's not my life anymore. Healing looks like little moments, not big breakthroughs. It's the first time you go a whole day without checking their page. It's when you find an old hoodie they left behind and instead of crying, you just smile and fold it away. It's realizing you can talk about them without your voice shaking. It's when you hear their favorite song and your chest doesn't tighten. It's when you stop rewriting the ending in your head because you finally accept that this is how it was meant to end. And it's when you realize you don't need an apology anymore. You don't need closure. You don't need one last text because deep down you've already given yourself all of the closure that you needed. You start to wish them well. Not because you want them back, but because your heart is too full to carry hate. That's real growth. That's peace. And here's the thing that nobody tells you about healing. It's slow. It's not linear. And it's not always this empowering glow-up moment you see on social media. Sometime healing is sitting in silence and realizing you don't even know who you are without them anymore. It's learning to meet that version of yourself again. Sometimes it's crying on random Tuesdays because something small reminded you of them. Sometimes it's laughing again and then feeling guilty for laughing. And sometimes it's thinking you're over them until you're not. And that's all okay. You're allowed to fluctuate. You're allowed to feel both the loss and the freedom. Healing isn't a race. It's not about getting to the finish line first. It's about letting every version of you that loved, that hurt, that hoped, and that fell apart have their moment to exist and be released. Because that version of you that begged to be chosen, she deserves compassion and not shame. Sometimes healing looks like finally admitting you stayed longer than you should have. Not because you were weak, but because you loved deeply and believed in potential. And that's not something to regret. That's something to be proud of. It takes bravery to love. Even more bravery to let go. And the most courage to stay softer after being hurt. And healing, real healing, is realizing that you can do it all. Is realizing that you can do all of that and still keep your heart open. It's knowing that love will come again. That it will feel different next time. It feels safe, grounded, mutual, because this time you'll know your worth. Some days healing looks like journaling. And some days it looks like dancing in your kitchen. Some days it looks like deleting photos you held on to for too long. And some days it just looks like breathing through the ache and whispering, "I'm okay. I'm getting there." You start creating new memories. Not to erase the old ones, but to remind yourself that life still has beauty left in it. [music] You start taking yourself out again. You start looking in the mirror and recognizing your reflection again. You start to fall in love not with someone new, but with your peace, with your mornings, with your solitude. And that's the beauty of healing. It's quiet. No one applauds you for it. No one really sees it happen. But one day, it's [music] there. You'll wake up and realize that your heart doesn't feel heavy anymore. You'll realize that you stopped narrating your life through their memory. It doesn't happen in one big moment, but it happens gradually in the pauses between thoughts, in the way your laughter sounds lighter, in the way your energy starts to shift back towards yourself. And one day you'll think of them and it will just be natural. No pain, no rush of nostalgia. No anger, just gratitude. Gratitude that you experienced something that taught you. Gratitude that you cared enough to hurt. Gratitude that you're still here, still trying, still learning, and still loving. Getting over someone isn't about forgetting them, but it is about forgiving yourself. For giving so much of your heart to something that wasn't meant to last. For believing in love that didn't know how to love you back. For not leaving the first time your heart told you to. Forgiving yourself of being human. Because that's all heartbreak is the most human thing we can experience. And love doesn't always mean staying. Endings don't always mean failure. Sometimes endings are protection. Sometimes heartbreaks are awakenings. Sometimes they're the beginning of everything that was waiting for you once you were brave enough to let go. So if you're listening to this right now and you're still healing, I want you to know that it is okay. You're not behind. You're not broken. You're just in the in between. The part of the story where your character rebuilds, the part no one posts about, but the part that changes everything. Because one day you'll meet someone new. Or maybe you won't. And you'll just meet you. And either way, it'll make sense because the love you gave won't go to waste. It'll come back to you in the form of peace, in the form of purpose, in the form of people who love you the way that you always deserve to be loved. And that's how you'll know you'll actually moved on. With love, mafies, if you enjoyed today's episode, make sure to share with anyone that might need to listen. If it's not a yes, it's a no. This mindset is about clarity. It's about recognizing that hesitation, doubt, or lack of enthusiasm can carry as much meaning as an outright no. How many times have we talked ourselves into things that we didn't feel great about just to avoid conflict or discomfort? It's not always easy to say no. But here's the truth. Every time we ignore that little voice inside that says, "hm, I'm not sure about this." We're silencing something really important. our boundaries in relationships. If someone you're dating ask for something and your response is, I guess, that's not a yes. And that hesitation, that's your intuition speaking. Whether you're the one asking or the one being asked, clarity matters. A real yes is enthusiastic, confident, and mutual. At work, ever been asked to take on a project that you didn't have the energy for? Maybe you said yes out of obligation, even though deep down it was a no. That can lead to burnout and resentment. Not exactly the recipe for success with ourselves. How often do we ignore our gut instincts? Whether it's saying yes to a night out when we need rest or taking on commitments that don't align with our goals, those little nos we feel are just as valid. Here's the thing. When we respect our own no, it becomes easier to respect and recognize it in others. A no from fear feels restrictive. It comes with self-judgment, like I'm not good enough to do this. But a true no feels like relief. It's the weight lifted off your shoulders when you honor your boundaries. On the other side, a yes should feel like alignment. Like yes, this is right for me. This is where I am supposed to be. How do we start living by if it's not a yes, it's a no? Here are some practical tips. Check in with yourself. When faced with a decision, take a moment and ask yourself, is this a full body yes or am I hesitating? Practice saying no. Saying no can feel awkward, especially if you're a people pleaser. But practice makes it easier. Try small moments of honesty, like turning down an invite if you're not feeling it. Listen without assumptions. If you're the one seeking a yes, pay attention to more than just words. Hesitation, tone, and body language all tell a story. Respect others boundaries. If you're given a no, or even a maybe, accept it without pushing. Trust that the other person knows what they need. Remember, living by if it's not a yes, it's a no. Isn't about being rigid or closed off. It's about creating a life of clarity, respect, and authenticity. I challenge you this week to pay attention to those moments of hesitation. Whether it's a yes or a no, honor it. You might be surprised at how empowering it feels. Think about the way many of us were raised. Saying no, especially to authority figures, was often seen as disrespectful or uncomparative. In school, at home, or even at work, compliance was praised. We were taught to avoid conflict, to go with the flow, and to keep the peace. Even at the expenses of our own feelings. For women and marginalized groups, the pressure can be even greater. Society often expects people in these groups to be agreeable, a commodity, and non-confrontational. Saying no might feel like stepping out of the line, and it can be scary. But the truth is, every time we choose to honor our boundaries, we're slowly rewriting that script. We're challenging the norms that taught us to prioritize others comfort over our own needs. Let's talk about what happens when we constantly live by if it's not a yes, it's a no mindset. We build stronger relationships. When you honor your no, it encourages others to do the same. Over time, this creates relationships based on mutual respect. You're no longer guessing or walking on eggshells. You know where you stand, and that builds trust, increased selfrespect. Every time you say no, when you mean it, or say yes when you mean it, you're reinforcing your sense of selfworth. You're reminding yourself that your needs matter, too. You have better decision making. When you start listening to your intuition, you make better decisions in all areas of your life. You waste less time on things that drain you and more on things that energize you, empowering others. Your example can inspire others. Think about how powerful it is when someone you admire confidently says no without guilt. When you start doing that, you're giving the people around you permission to do the same. Now, what about those tricky situations where the answer isn't black and white? Life isn't always as clear as yes or no. Let's dive into some strategies for navigating those gray areas. The power of not yet. Sometimes a no is more at not right now. Maybe you need more information or time to process. Saying I'm not ready to decide yet, is completely valid. Advise you the space you need to get clarity. Set temporary boundaries. In gray area situations, temporary boundaries can help you. For example, you might say, "I'm willing to try this for a month. I want to reassess after that." This approach keeps you flexible while still protecting your needs. Trust the process. It's okay to make mistakes. Sometimes you'll say yes when you should have said no, or vice versa. The important thing is learning from those moments and getting better at tuning into your own instincts over time. When we teach and live by this principle, we're creating a culture of consent, a culture where people feel empowered to speak with their truth without fear or judgment. And here's something powerful. When you constantly practice this in your own life, you model it to others, whether it's your kids, friends, or co-workers, to see what it looks like to honor boundaries. And that's contagious. This applies to how we treat others as well. If someone gives you anything less than a clear, enthusiastic yes, take it as a no. Respecting that not only protects them, it protects the integrity of the relationship itself. You deserve to live a life that you're sure of. You deserve to have people, things, and relationships that leave no space for doubt. And you deserve to wake up feeling reassured that every single thing that you have around you is exactly what you're supposed to have around you. If it's not a yes, if it's not an absolutely, it's a no. And if it's not a I am sure this is for me, it is a no. With love, mafies, if you enjoyed today's episode, make sure to share with anyone that might need to listen. I'm excited to form a part of your healing journey. We live in a time where it's easier than ever to focus on appearances, how our lives look on social media, how we present ourselves to others, and how well we seem to have it all together. We all know how easy it is to get caught up in the highlight reels of other people's lives. Like this constant parade of perfect vacations, created outfits, glowing relationships, and success stories. And if you're not careful, it can leave you feeling like you're falling behind or not doing enough. What you see online or even in real life is rarely the whole story. How many times have you put a brave face or shared the perfect photo while feeling completely different inside? We've all done it. And that's because it's human nature to want to present the best version of ourselves. The problem comes when we start prioritizing how our lives look over how they actually feel. When we put more energy into the external than the internal, we disconnect from our true selves. We might look like we're thriving, but inside we're tired, unfulfilled, or even broken. How does your life feel right now? not how it looks to the outside world, but how does it feel to you? When we focus on how our lives feel, we start to tap into what's real. Maybe your life feels peaceful right now, or maybe it feels chaotic and overwhelming. Whatever it is, it's important to honor that feeling because it's the truth. You don't have to prove your happiness, your healing, or your success to anyone. Life isn't a performance. You don't owe anyone a perfect image of yourself. Healing, especially, is messy. It's not Instagrammable. It's quiet, internal, and deeply personal. Healing looks like staying in bed because you need to rest. And other times, it's sitting with uncomfortable feelings instead of running away from them. And sometimes, healing means walking away from something or someone that looks perfect on the outside, but doesn't feel right on the inside. The beauty of healing is that it's yours. You don't have to post it, explain it, or package it in a way that makes sense to others. So, how about we start focusing on how it life feels rather than how it looks? Here are a few ideas. Practice self-awareness. Take time to check in with yourself. How you're really feeling. Journal, meditate, or just sit quietly with your thoughts. Let go of comparison. Remember, someone else's highlight reel is not the full picture. Focus on your own journey and what feels good to you. Stop performing. You don't need to justify your choices or prove your worth to anyone. Be honest about what you need to prioritize and your own well-being. Create meaningful moments. Focus on experiences that bring you joy and peace, even if they're not picture perfect. Those quiet, unshared moments are often the ones that feel the best. Seek connection, not validation. Surround yourself with people who see and value the real you, not just the version that you show to the world. I want to remind you that it is okay to live a life that feels good to you, even if it doesn't look impressive to anyone else. You don't have to be polished, perfect, or on all the time. You're allowed to have messy days, quiet victories, and moments that only you get to experience. Healing isn't about looking like you have it all together, but it is about finding peace within yourself. And that peace, it doesn't need an audience. Remember, your life is yours. You don't need to prove anything to anyone. Go out there, live authentically, and let your heart guide the way. Why are we so focused on appearances in the first place? It's not entirely our fault. Society has conditioned us to believe that success is something that you can see. A big house, a fancy car, a relationship that looks picture perfect. And now, with social media amplifying everything, we've equated visibility with value. Does looking good ever truly satisfy us? the likes, the comments, the fleeting admiration from others. They might give us a quick hit of validation, but they don't feed our souls. They don't heal our pain or feel the deeper voids within us. This obsession with appearances often masks insecurity. We feel if people believe I'm doing well, maybe I'll start to believe it, too. But no amount of external validation or approval can fix what's been broken inside. Healing starts inward. People aren't paying as much attention to us as we think they are. Most of the time, everyone is too busy worrying about their own lives to notice ours. So why do we exhaust ourselves trying to impress a world that's barely watching? Ask yourself, what does a successful life feel like to you? Not what it feels or looks like to others, but what does it feel like to you? For some people, success feels like peace. For others, it's about connection, freedom, or joy. Whatever it is, it doesn't have to align with society's definition. It doesn't have to look like a glamorous or impressive to anyone else. Maybe success for you is having a calm morning routine. Waking up without rushing, sipping your coffee, and starting the day with intention. Maybe it's spending time with loved ones or finding work that aligns with your values. These things might not photograph well, but they're deeply fulfilling. The more you focus on what feels like success to you, the less you'll care about what it looks like to others. The small unseen moments are the moments that often go unnoticed by the outside world but carry so much weight in our lives. It's the quiet satisfaction of crossing something off your to-do list. The joy of laughing so hard with a friend that you forget what time it is. The peace of sitting in your favorite spot, reading a book, or just being present. These moments may never make it into Instagram, but they're what life is truly made of. They're the tiny threads that weave into a life that feels full and rich. Think about the moments in your life that have brought you the most joy or peace. They were big grand gestures or were they small? Intimate experiences that only were there to witness. Chances are it's the later. Embrace imperfection. Life doesn't have to be perfect to be fully beautiful. In fact, some of the most meaningful moments come from the imperfections. Think about the relationships that matter most to you. Are they perfect or are they filled with ups and downs, misunderstandings, and moments of vulnerability that brought you closer? The same goes for your personal growth. You don't have to wait until you're fully healed or have everything figured out to live a fulfilling life. Healing is a journey, not a destination. And you are allowed to be a work in progress. The pressure to present a polished, perfect version of yourself is exhausting and unnecessary. Give yourself permission to be human and make mistakes and to grow at your own pace. So, how do we start building a life that feels good to us? Declutter your priorities. Ask yourself, am I doing this for me or for how it looks to others? Let go of commitments or goals that are rooted in external validation. Set boundaries with social media. If scrolling makes you feel inadequate, take a break or limit your time online. Use that time to focus on what truly matters to you. Celebrate small wins. You don't need a big milestone to feel proud of yourself. Every step forward, no matter how small, is worth celebrating. Embrace gratitude. Pay attention to the things that you already have and that already make your life feel good. Gratitude shifts your focus from what's missing to what's present. Surround yourself with authenticity. Seek out people and spaces that encourage you to be the real self. The more authentic energy you surround yourself with, the easier it is to let go the need to perform. The world doesn't need another perfectly created life. It needs more people who are brave enough to live authentically, unapologetically, and in alignment with what truly matters to them. So, let this be your reminder. You don't have to prove anything to anyone. You are enough just as you are. Focus on how good your life feels and let everything else fall into place.
